The pizza is terrible, way too much sauce and the sauce has a funny taste. The wings are always lacking sauce and there insanely soggy. The taste is horrid and they aren’t good. The interior of the establishment is rundown and desperately needs remodeling. It’s also very questionable how clean they are. This is my last time eating here. I wouldn’t get the wings from here because they are very subpar and aren’t worth the price point. In my opinion this establishment is a 3/10 and I wouldn’t recommend eating here.

Vennaris Pizza Sub — Columbia
Rating: 4.3/5
Ambiance: Casual campus-adjacent spot with a modern, minimalist vibe. Bright, airy space during the day and cozier in the evenings. Friendly, quick-service counter setup; good for a study break or a casual bite between classes.
Flavor profile: A clever fusion that folds classic pizza elements into a submarine sandwich. The bread is crusty on the outside and soft inside, providing sturdy structure for the fillings. The sauce reads as a bright, tangy tomato base with a hint of oregano and garlic. Toppings typically include melted mozzarella, pepperoni or perhaps a veggie alternative, and a handful of fresh herbs. Each bite offers a balance of melted cheese, chewy bread, and savory toppings without any one element overpowering the others.
Texture and execution: The contrast between the crisp crust and the gooey cheese is spot on. The pepperoni (if included) delivers crisp edges and rich porky notes. The vegetables (if present) add a refreshing counterpoint and some crunch. The overall sandwich feels substantial without being greasy, thanks to a well-balanced sauce and properly seasoned fillings.
Portion and value: Generous sub size that can satisfy a hungry student. Price point sits in a reasonable mid-range for campus dining, especially considering the quality of ingredients. Great for a meal on the go.
Atmosphere for dining: Ideal for quick lunch cameos between lectures, catch-ups with friends, or solo study sessions. If you’re dining in, there’s usually a steady stream of orders, so expect a short wait during peak hours.
Dietary notes: If you have dietary restrictions, check if the sub is customizable. Common tweaks might include choosing a gluten-free option (if available) or swapping toppings to accommodate vegetarians or those avoiding pork.
Solid flavor balance between sauce, cheese, and toppings.
Satisfying portion that’s good value for a campus meal.
Easy to customize and portable.
Overall impression: The Vennaris pizza sub at Columbia is a dependable, tasty option that blends pizza vibes with a hearty sandwich format. It’s particularly appealing for those who want comfort flavors in a convenient, handheld form. A solid choice for campus dining that delivers on taste and portion without fuss.

I’ve been going to Vennari’s since high school when they were located in the Oakland Mills village center. I now reside outside of Columbia but whenever I’m in the area - I love their pizza! It’s my favorite and still taste exactly how it did when I was back in high school which makes it so nostalgic. Lastly, I’d like to add that the staff is friendly and kind.

We love this place!! My family orders frequently and the food is always fresh. The customer service is always polite; they even remember how we like our specific order. Huge variety of salads, sandwiches, pizzas, and handheld appetizers. My kids, especially like the mozzarella sticks and wings!! When we think of subs and pizza, we think of Vennari’s

Soggy greasy pizza. 0 stars. A bunch of rude dusty men (see pic below) who work her who are not hygenic or polite. They also dont wear gloves when preparing food and have flies.

This place was awful. The pizza was dripping with grease. All of the lunch meats and lettuce on one of the subs we got smelled terrible and were clearly spoiled. The only thing that was okay tasting was the chicken tenders, because at least those were frozen so they couldn't go bad. Will definitely never come back. Also was not even offered a refund for being served straight up spoiled food, what a disgrace.
Just moved into the area and sunny went above and beyond. The pizza was delicious and right amount of sauce and cheese. 100% will be going back
We at The Metropolitan Downtown Columbia would like to thank VENNARI'S for supplying the OG Columbia Pizza and salads for our March Madness Pizza Party— you guys knocked it out of the park! The residents loved the pizza! 🍕👏
