As someone who lived in the area I’m probably biased because “Outta’ The Way” is Derwood’s “Regal Beagle!” This little independent neighborhood bar has flourished while so many chain restaurants, stores, banks, and other businesses in the area have come and gone! They’ve proudly supported local musicians for decades. They’ve somehow managed to strike the perfect balance of being a traditional restaurant while also being ahead of their time. They had a big craft beer selection before craft beer was “a thing!“ They were also proudly recycling years before any other businesses were doing so and decades before it was the in thing to do. Their classic American bar fare from burgers, to wings, to salads with French fries on top have been the core of their menu for years. They always find a way to make these staple foods uniquely theirs! They have a great lively bar where people of all different backgrounds come together to watch sports or just chat with each other. OTWC isn’t just a restaurant or bar, it’s a lively part of the local community! The servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and owners are really the secret sauce to making it remain so special after all these years! They are so friendly and always treat their customers like their friends! Whether you live in or around the area or want to make the trip to see great live music in an intimate setting, go visit this super-fun neighborhood joint! Recommend dishes: Swirlin’ Wings, Burgers, Steak Salad, the grilled chicken sandwich (with barbecue, bacon, and cheddar!), and those amazing house made onion rings! Keep on keepin’ on Outta’ The Way!

The Outta The Way Cafe is my favorite hangout. After a long day of work or meeting all my friends after a round of golf... just entering the restaurant I am immediately greeted by staff that makes me feel right at home. The ambiance is very comfortable, clean and inviting. The wood architecture (walls and tables) inspires a relaxing atmosphere. The lighting, table top settings and the beauty of the restaurant are charming. The menu represents the restaurant's personality. With out a doubt the best wings in the area! The entree's are delicious and very reasonable prices. I suggest the barbecue ribs! The location is a hidden gem and could be a destination spot; however, no matter the distance... definitely worth the drive! The service is impeccable with friendly smiles, knowledgeable, sense of urgency making my experience more enjoyable. I do not hesitate to present five stars and highly recommend going to Outta The Way Cafe!

Out of the Way Cafe is a good restaurant, the food never disappoints, and staff is generally nice, the one catch, the lighting, this has the lighting of an old basement, and it is quite gloomy and dim to drive in at.
