I have picked up food a couple of times at Owls Corner Cafe, had their steak, bistec enceballado, pork and chicken. I have picked up a couple of pasteries as well. I was not a fan of the chicken everything else is great. The younger girls there are nice and accomodating, i did have an akward encounter with an older lady there who took my order on if i could order my steak a certain temp, She initially said yes, and when i specified medium well, she kept on insisting they cook the steak two different ways. Next time, please make that clear smh. She was kinda rude about it to be honest.

Owls is the best restaurant that has ever existed. I grew up in Puerto Rico where personalized cafeterias is a part of every single barrio. The menu changes every day and the staff is your family. That is exactly what Owls is.
Their new location in Mt. Vernon is exquisite. There will always be la música buena playing, the music I grew up around. I am always greeted by name, and there are fresh pastries waiting always. Fun fact: in Puerto Rico, it's rare to get frituras made fresh for you. At Owls, it's not optional.
My favorite thing to do at Owls is get in and ask for the daily specials. Lilly (the owner) is always cooking up something new. That's how sometimes you get surprised by off-menu choices The Puerto Rican nachos are the best thing you'll ever eat.
Her specialty is the bistec encebollado, and that is what I get almost every time. It's more of a stew consistency, which is incredible, because usually bistec is dry and not my favorite. But not at Owls. Other menu tips: she makes trifongo, and they're always experimenting for breakfast. Just describe what you want, and Lilly will make it.
Owls has given me so much warmth and home during dark times. There is zero tolerance for rude people who harass clients or the staff because Lilly's family is literally the staff. So come to Owls with an open heart, a hungry stomach, and you'll leave with the widest smile you can get in Baltimore.

Light, organized, and thoughtfully minimal — simply enjoyable.

It has taken me a while to write this because how my group and myself was treated last Sunday really bothered my soul. My group had made an arrangement with the owner for 23 people for 3:00 p.m. . When we arrived there was no place for us to sit but two tables. Our host spoke to the owner's wife and she yelled at her and told her they don't take reservations. The host stated that she spoke with the husband the night before and he confirmed that he could accommodate 23 of our group. What happened next really deeply bothered me. The wife started screaming at our host that there is no reservation, they are a peaceful Puerto Rican place and she didn't care about our group not having a place to sit. She stated she cared more about her regular customers that have kept her place going for 5 years. This was so unnecessary disgusting and egregious. She also screamed at our host that she could get a refund and leave. I have never in my 40 years seems such nastiness from a business owner let alone a woman.
A few of us were able to grab the two tables and then when tables came clear we also grabbed those. However many and our party left because they were disgusted by the attitude of the wife. This is not how you treat customers.
One of our members is Puerto Rican and spoke to the wife and explained to her the situation and that she should apologize. The wife came to just the front of the counter and apologized to the people in the front. She never came by our tables to say anything. Then they gave people a free slice of cake as a sign of good gesture. However, when it came to the few of us that were sitting on the side with the host they bypassed us. When our host asked if we were getting free cake also she was so rudely told NO!
I won't lie the food was good, but because of her actions, I will never return to this place. And I won't bring any of our foodie groups to this restaurant. I hope her little 10 customers that have helped them remain open in the last 5 years continue to do so.
At this point she has lost a lot of money from us because you don't know who other people know. We have a lot of food critics in our group as well as the other three that we belong to. We could have brought an abundance of people to their little restaurant to experience their tasteful food, but sadly this negative behavior prevents that from happening.

Tried to go check this place out today, excited to try it. Found the place closed down with a notice on the door from the health department. The notice says they've been closed since 7/18/25 due to operating without a license. Super bummed I won't get to try their food anytime soon and wanted to let others know not to waste a trip to a closed restaurant 🥲
THIS IS THE BEST PLACE FOR EVERYONE! The restaurant is sooo cute ans such a vibe, the staff treats you sooo kindly and amazing, and the best of all, THE FOOD IS PHENOMENAL🇵🇷🩷

This is hands down the best puerto rican place you’ll find in Baltimore! I’ve been here a couple times and every time, the family who runs it makes everyone feel special, not to mention the food is full of flavor and presented beautifully.
Today I went and unfortunately an entitled customer was causing issues, but they handled the situation the best they could and made sure everyone else was comfortable.

It’s so hard to find a Puerto Rican restaurant in Maryland, and this place is a god send. This is my 1st time in this location but I’ve been enjoying their food years back when they started on the weekends only at the Dundalk Flea Market. Service was great and the food is phenomenal. If you’re looking for authentic Puerto Rican food, look no further. We drove all the way from Bel Air to enjoy this place and I’ll be stopping here every time I come down to the city, even if it’s just to grab an alcapurria or a bacalaito.
PS: I FINALLY found an authentic Cuban sandwich in Maryland here.
