I had a very disappointing experience on January 18th. I made a reservation for four people to celebrate my sister's birthday and her final month of pregnancy, having driven home from NYC for the occasion. This was going to be our first time dining here. Upon arriving at 10am, we found a sign on the door saying the restaurant was "on sabbatical for the rest of January." This was incredibly disappointing, particularly for my sister, who had been looking forward to the occasion. As someone with 10 years of experience in the service industry, I understand that unforeseen circumstances arise. However, this situation could have been handled with more consideration- a simple courtesy call to notify us of the closure would have allowed us to adjust our plans. As of January 24th (nearly a week later), we still haven't received a response to our call or email from management regarding this incident. I hope this feedback is taken to heart, as I know that a simple communication error usually does not reflect the level of service that they aim to provide. The inability to acknowledge the error, however, has turned us off from returning :(
They locked me in a freezer for hours

I love Bonheur. Love it so much. Love their staff members Madeline and Brooke. They both treat my kids like their own kids and always make us feel so happy.
The reason I can’t leave 5 stars (honestly, when Madeline and Brooke are there, the place deserves 6 stars!) is because the entrance and exit to the establishment are so dangerous. The color and size of the step make it extremely difficult to notice and navigate especially when you’re trying to also navigate your children.
I fell due to the poor visibility of the step, how slick the paint on the step made it, and severely sprained my ankle with a complete rupture of a tendon and will need surgical repair…. This was right after I had back surgery too, so I was trying to be careful with myself and was paying attention to what I was doing.
The entrances and exits need to be addressed. It is dangerous. I am shocked Mr. Prager has not addressed this and doesn’t seem to be interested in the safety of his customers. It’s obvious his attention to detail for the decor and menu are there! Why not customer safety? Please Mr. Prager, do better for us. This surgery is going to suck and I was fine until your poorly designed entrance knocked me on my behind :(
And shout out to Madeline and Brooke -they are the reason we come back even with the incredibly dangerous steps!
I don’t want anyone to pass on a visit because of my review, I simply want people to be careful knowing the steps are dangerous as they are and I hope Mr. Prager will take note.

We're so glad this place is also now offering breakfast! The menu is limited but the crepes (from P.Brodeur I guess) are the best I've ever had, and the quiche was also exceptional! Can't wait to go back!!

Delicious ice cream! Flavors change daily. A small ice cream is a double scoop. Prices are high but very reasonable for the quality and quantity. Definitely DC prices. Have been twice in two days.

Bonheur ice cream is decadent and expensive but definitely tasty and a great place to visit for any occasion. The ice cream is made on site and the strawberry was delicious. The chocolate hazelnut, a customer favorite, was very good and not overly sweet. $11 for ice cream and pie slice.
The decor was very exquisite and the store looked very clean.
A must try in the area!
Overall 4.5 . Ambience is 5 star. Wallpapers are beautiful. Staff is very good. Ice cream was creamy and delicious although the scoop size was tiny. The apple pie was good but the baked part was slightly hard
