Service was top notch! Attentive and knowledgeable. Food was excellent. Dessert was outstanding.
Dinner was delicious! I had the filet and it was perfectly cooked. My husband had the lamb loin and he said it was delicious.
This was a wonderful dinner! We ate calamari, which was light and cooked with caramelized onions. Really delicious! Also, Tuscan shrimp and the Pork Carbonara. Both were unusual in their complex wonderful flavors. The peach cobbler was also great with hints of cinnamon and not sweet or syrupy but in a delicate pastry. Our waitress was timely and kind. The atmosphere is quiet and lovely. We'd love to visit again.
Our overall experience was good. Our server not very well trained and it appeared to be his first night. We were not aware they were serving oysters on the half until we overheard the server next tell her table. We ordered those as well. The fried calamari was delicious and it came with shrimp and banana peppers. A nice surprise. My New York came perfectly prepared at medium rare. The dessert was also excellent. My Smith Island cake was fantastic. My partner's Peach Cobbler was also amazing. All in all our experience would have been better had we had more experienced service
Don't skip the gorgeous & delicious desserts!

It was an unexpected buffet breakfast and we were pleasantly surprised. The sausage was cooked perfectly, cream chipped beef, French toast and various pastries. Well done! Oh and the coffee was very good as well.
Visited again for lunch, extremely fast service and ordered the soup du jour which was mushroom soup, absolutely delicious and complex, going just for the soup would have been worth it. The meal was the market priced fried shrimp and fries, which was very good, especially the tarter sauce, that might have been the best part, actually. The shrimp were well cooked and not over breaded. The fries were a bit salty but still delicious. Another win for Hunters Tavern.

Brisket steak and eggs, utterly perfect. The beernaise sauce over the steak must have been squeezed straight from the nut sack of Zues, absolutely divine! Perfect Sunnyside up eggs, and great potatoes. One more win for Hunters Tavern. I hope they are paying their staff well, because they are crushing it.

The service was very disappointing. Our waiter was not attentive and didn't top off coffee, tea, and water. We had to wave him down for the check.

My wife and I went for our 22nd wedding anniversary. I've been a few times to Tidewater for lunch and it's usually pretty decent. She especially enjoys seafood, I don't but they have a nice looking seafood menu. The wine list is mediocre. The list of Bourbon is very nice. She ordered the halibut and was very pleased. I ordered the 6oz filet and wasn't. The Filet wasn't really filet, it was particle meat that had been glued together to resemble a Filet. I don't think this is Tidewater's fault, it most likely whoever provides their beef, but it shouldn't be served as Filet, it's not accurate. The moment my fork hit the meat it split and a piece almost completely separated. Honestly I wish I hadn't eaten it. She enjoyed her meal and I didn't want to ruin our anniversary dinner so I just went with it. No desert, paid and left. Ice cream place across the street saved the evening.
There's a reason why the restaurant was empty..come on, Tidewater - I know you can do better. it smelled like leftover seafood first thing in the am.. the sausage tasted expired.. potatoes were flimsy, gray and sad. eggs had a weird essence. Would not stay or eat here again. nothing fresh on the menu for a lighter option versus everything crab and heavy.
So great. Classy. Fabulous food. Great ambience. I would definitely dine here again. I wish I had stayed at the inn.

Had an incredible dinner here tonight! Our server was Chris and he so personable and gave us great suggestions. We had the calamari, burrata salad, New York strip, the pork carbonara, old fashion, Strawberry pretzel salad bomb (crazy name), and the chocolate torte— and we were blown away by all of them!!! Will most definitely be back.

We have been going to the Tidewater Inn over 15 years, especially staying there for Waterfowl Festival. We made reservations for this year’s Waterfowl Festival and were charged the 1 night reservation fee. $575.00 approximately. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected family event which was scheduled out of state for that weekend, we had to cancel our reservation. I asked if we could use those already paid funds for another date. Much to my disappointment they refused…I am sure they filled our spot almost immediately and feel that this was a poor way to treat a guest who had been coming there for more than 15 years! Not a very nice way to treat loyal customers !
Great value and service. Best crab dip in the state. Highly recommend.

it was so much better than we thought it would be. The server was amazing, the food was delicious. We loved it!
Great food at Hunter's Tavern! The crab cake and salmon were awesome. My favorite cocktail is red sangria. We love hanging out in the bar here.
