My husband and I went for a quiet, relaxing Anniversary weekend. Our expectations were exceeded on all levels.Rooms: Our log cabin was perfect. All amenities were present. Fireplace. 2 sinks. Fridge. Delicious coffee.Should have packed slippers for wood floors.Nearby activities: Hiking trails were diverse and well maintained.Safety: Never gave it a thought...in the middle of the woods.Food & drinks: Dinners were wonderful...service, ambience, selection top notch and fairly priced.Noteworthy details: Every staff member we met was well informed and pleasant.

We had a lovely one night getaway in a cozy little cabin facing the woods, and had a great time! Very impressed with the food, service was top notch, menu was very unique and delicious (never knew meatloaf could be so good!), and I loved the concept of the breakfast delivery service. We were hoping to catch some snow to do cross country skiing however got unlucky with the weather, but we had fun with the wine geocaching activity. I'm only taking a star off due to cleanliness and maintenance falling short of expectations considering we paid about $300 for a night's stay - the cabin floors were not clean and neither were the coffee mugs; the ceiling fan's lights were missing two bulbs so the loft was very dim.

We visited Savage River Lodge for a film shoot and had the most wonderful time. The scenery & accommodations were amazing and the staff were all top-notch 5-stars. While on set we spoke with the owner, the kindest man and very supportive of us being there. What a beautiful location, we can’t wait to highlight it in the film! Look for ‘Wychwood Cycle’ on YouTube coming June 2024! ?

Have stayed there twice, both times in cabins. The food, delivered hot and perfectly presented to your door makes our mouths water just reminiscing about it. Beds are comfy; even the pull out sofa bed. Love the porches. Don't bother paying extra for a cabin with "extra privacy"; ours was at the end of a road facing back down the road, whereas the first cabin I stayed in with my bestie, the view from the porch was awesome and it was soo much more private.

Great place to visit for a mountain getaway. The cabins and yurts are very comfortable and cozy. The bar at the lodge is well stocked and drinks are perfectly prepared. The food is delicious. Bring rugged shoes and take one of the well marked trails. Relax and enjoy. This is a great place to unwind. Highly recommend.

Had the absolute best Christmas / birthday dinner here! As someone whose birthday is on Christmas Day, it can be so hard to find a place open for a special evening, but I am so glad my mom recommended Savage River Lodge--one of the best birthday dinners I've had in a while! Walking in, the ambiance was cozy and rustic with a large festive decorated tree and a roaring fireplace. The menu was pretty extensive and had a lot of options to choose from. Although they were out of a few options we tried to order, our server was SO KIND and comped a bottle of wine for us, which truly just was above and beyond service. Everything we ordered was delicious! The crab dip, the steak frites, the salmon + Cajun risotto, and the pinot noir were all excellent. Only -1 star because the road to get here is not for the faint of heart! It is essentially 1.5 miles of narrow backroads, with a lot of pot holes, and in the pitch black December night it was a bit worrisome to drive. I 100% recommend having an SUV to get here. Hopefully they will be able to make some improvements to the road because it is not in great shape.

If you've ever "selfishly" wished for a peaceful, stress-free Christmas then leave that guilt behind and enjoy your holiday at Savage River Lodge. We experienced our usual fine dining with an engaging and knowledgeable wait staff. The rustic, Eco friendly environment never disappoints. And dare we say no ill-behaved children in sight; but instead, a few friendly, well-behaved dogs. We've been to SRL 9 times and always leave relaxed and refreshed. Sometimes, Jan and Mike even deliver your morning basket themselves. Brian, Joanne & Roxy Hollern

zero out of 5 but NOT for any of the reasons listed above, but for specifically the way the owners treat the workers. I have heard derogatory remarks made towards a line cook who identifies with being lgbtq+, ive heard racist remarks about rap music come directly from the owner, AND line cooks get written up at random because the owners require SOMEONE to punish any time they're angry about something. i will NEVER be eating or staying here, not while they're still treating their linecooks and staff like mules.

What a special place! We had our first weekend at Savage River Lodge, and stayed in a cabin that faced the woods. It was the most serene location, simple and spare but beautiful. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights and enjoyed the food immensely. We especially liked Thaddeus the bartender. Can’t wait to go back!

Here are the ups and downs of this place. The Upside : beautiful area. Secluded. We booked the premiere King Cabin. Two floors, cozy. Bed is up in loft. Downstairs has everything you need like a hotel room. The trails are good walking trails and we saw lots of deer. I walked w a small fishing rod and tried to cast where I saw water. Small creek fish. Not worth it. You can book a 4 hour wading trip with the owner on the savage River for a few hundred bucks. Not bad it seems but I didn't do it. The Lodge is nice. Fire pit is awesome if you don't mind lighting it up yourself. No one will do it for you so we kinda just did what the heck we wanted once we realized we were on our own. Each morning they deliver you juice and muffins. You can upgrade this to a breakfast burrito but that's prob just microwaved food . The muffins were good. Other positives is there are two nearby towns, Frostburg and Grantville to visit. The food at Cassellman Inn in Grantville is great. Plus they're Baked good are awesome. When the Lodge Restaurant is closed the Cornucopia in Grantville will deliver Lunch and dinner but you must order it early or the day before . Cornucopia is better than the Lodge food.Bad side of stuff - Food at the Lodge. They only serve dinner from Friday to Tuesday . You are on your own Wednesday and Thursday. When they do serve food it's not very good. So that's a big downside . Choose safe things like pasta . They do serve good drinks and wine but we brought a lot of our own wine for back up. And we drank it at the fire pit. Last thing I'll say about the downside , don't expect the warmest of greetings by the owners or staff. The nicest people were the one guy at the front desk and the one waiter , Wayne. 5 Stars for those two guys. Others seemed to not want to engage much at all. We saw the owner twice and there was never a “welcome to our Lodge, my name is …... That’s someone who seems to have checked out of caring about service or reviews. If we ever book it again we would just bring more food from home for comfort. Our last night there we had food delivered. They bring it in a big container. We took it to the lodge where you can use the microwave to reheat it. The Lodge was all dark and closed but all doors are open so just went in and lit up the place and heated our food and took it out onto the deck with our BYOB and had a great dinner. I plugged in the porch lights. It was awesome and no one bothered us. Later we took our wine down by the fire and lit up a huge fire and played music watched the stars and drank our wine. That was the best night.
