Best Japanese steakhouse we can find. We drove out to Hagerstown, Morgantown, Fredrick to try multiple Japanese steakhouses and none of them are as good as Yamato. Great food at a really good price for what you get. Yamato is one of our favorite places to eat out.

Even having pulled in with a mere half-hour until close, we weren't rushed by our server. The kids were indecisive but patience and kindness was extended towards them. When our order was placed, our food came out quickly from the kitchen. A lack of table-side prep was perfect considering our roadtripping tummies needed something healthy in time for everyone else to get home and for us to get back on the road. Honestly, based on our single experience with impeccable service and delicious dishes, if this establishment was located near our home, we would likely be regulars.

Friendly staff, food was great, wait staff were friendly and attentive. We stopped for lunch, and portions were perfect. Quite affordable price wise, if we travel though again would definitely revisit!

Good food, great service, and greet atmosphere. Pricing was good for the specials with soup or salad included. There are not many options for sushi in Garrett County, Western Maryland. My children and rates the food at an 8/10 and the service and atmosphere at a 10/10. Photo are attached.

A really good option for the area

absolutely filthy kitchen, food caked all over handles they are using to dunk in buckets then pouring in your sauce containers. no towels. no sanitation buckets. sticky surfaces in the dining area. I have worked in the industry for almost 5 years as a bartender and server. I have never seen a kitchen as dirty as this one. They do not pay for training. I was in there for a whole hour and 25 mins and it was an hour and 25 mins longer than I should have been in there. Abusive to their employees.

Today me and my friends went out together to dinner together and got dressed up and was having a great evening until we got to dinner. I have never been to this restaurant and wanted to try it. The service was terrible and they were so unbelievably rude! And to top it off one of the workers from the restaurant approached my friend in the bathroom and said we shouldn’t be dressing a certain way and making fun of us. So rude and very unprofessional. I will never be eating there again. Worst service ever!

The sushi was awful. Hard to chew and very fishy. The place was filthy, including the bathrooms. The hibachi was “meh”…I wouldn’t go back.

Wow... that was so gross. The friend rice was literally just rice. Not a single veggie or anything. Bland as hell. I guess you're supposed to flavor it yourself with that sub par yumyumish sauce. The service was horrible. She forgot my soup. And there's not a single decoration in sight. The place is as bland as their food. I'm pertty sure it's a cover up business.
