This was my second visit to Blackwall Barn and Lodge and it did not disappoint! This was the perfect way to end a weekend-long (50th) birthday celebration for my boo. The large assortment of food ensured that there would be something to satisfy everyone's palate, and the waffle station, omelette station , and endless mimosas helped to solidify this place as the gold standard for brunch.

Excellent brunch! A lot of options to choose from; omelette station, fruit, dessert, seafood, meats and a lot of other great options. Outstanding food presentation and the staff is superb which complete the overall experience.

Anaya was our waitress.. She was friendly and helpful. It was VERY Busy, so lines for food were long... Very long.. I'm sure it was the fault of the restaurant, but whew made for a harder brunch than what I was used to here. We heard that there were a few parties that overstayed their welcome.. Oh well, I can't say that Blackwall isn't worth it :)

The restaurant was packed and the tables were too close together. The waitstaff tried to serve, but they seemed to be overwhelmed. In addition when the bill came they charged for credit card fees at 3%. This is very unreasonable at a high end restaurant! Also, the entrees were not impressive and actually not very filling... the overall experience was very poor. This was not what I expected and feel that the ownership has gotten very greedy to charge credit card fees for such expensive entrees. What is next with this restaurant group will they start charging for bread and butter? Tap water? Shame on the owner... at this point it is time for him to exit the restaurant business and let someone with passion and ethics take over! He certainly has forgotten customer service and has cost the waitstaff money! Because the credit card fees come out of the tips... Shame on you... keep filing your pockets at the expense of your head working employees.

Martinis were good although 3/4 full. Appetizers, Caprese Canoe and Duck Fat fries very good. Disappointed with my braised short ribs meal. Mashed Potatoes were cool, short ribs were bland. Brussel sprouts were tasty. Gluten Free Bacon wrapped scallops were good but missing the cherry gastric. Waiter suggested the gastric was present. After checking with the chef it was discovered the gastric was forgotten in preparation.

Sunday buffet brunch offers tasty items, but for the price, there are not many options, especially for pescatarians/vegetarians (almost nothing vegan). Raw oysters, spiced shrimp, & grits were especially good. Fresh crabmeat was available at the omelette station. Service was excellent. In addition to state tax, they add an 18% tip + the credit card transaction charge. We (2) had the brunch $48 each, unlimited champagne/mimosas $16 each, & 1 bottle sparkling water $6. The brunch total for 2 was $171.47. I will not return for brunch.

I went here for lunch and ordered the Shrimp and grits and it was excellent. If you don't like spice it was a little spicy but it was perfect for me. Excellent atmosphere and great service.

As usual, the dining experience was perfection! The team here takes such great care of each diner. I brought my boss and colleague to Blackwall Barn and Lodge Gambrills for a business lunch and it was excellent-the service, food and ambience. One of my favorite places to dine!

Great experience for lunch! Kaitlyn was very informative and polite. We had the Crispy calamari, Halibut and Chesapeake pasta, all were superb. The crab dip was a little underwhelming, but over all it was still a great dining experience. Well worth the price!

Great location and food. We happen to be there at 6:45 and Happy Hour was just about to end, the noise level was so loud the the two of us were yelling to just hold a conversation. 30 minutes later it quickly became better.

I had a wonderful time here with friends. Food was delicious the waffle and chicken was amazing. Omelette bar was great. Chris is an amazing manager staff is very polite and friendly. Will be returning with the ladies we had such a great time. Keep up the great work .

We sat in the bar area where our server was the bartender as well.. we ordered Maryland Crab Soup and when it was brought out there was no crab in it.. it took a while for the server to come & check on us. They took the soup back & brought out a brand new bowl.. the soup was not compensated for being wrong the first time. Our table sat for at least 15 minutes without any service. We had plates & drinks that needed to be collected. We went & asked for a manager who just came & collected the plates.. There was no sense of urgency or any compensation for poor service. We have been there at least 3x times and will not be returning in the future.

Our server, Lauren, was excellent. Our Valentine's prix fix meal was ok, but not great. The lobster bisque was quite good, as was the French onion soup. The sea bass seemed to be overcooked and somewhat rubbery and the gourmet onions were just ok. The 18 oz. ribeye, turned out to be 18 oz. including the bone, which was not noted in their promo. Unfortunately, it seemed to be lower than even “choice” and had chunks of fat, rather than marbling. The “Swiss chard” that was served with it was quite bitter and spicy, and rather inedible. Of note, the maple sweet potato (whipped), was wonderful. The desserts were ok, but the chocolate cake was mostly ganache and incredibly rich. The red velvet Smith Island cake was good. Others have given better reviews, so perhaps they had an off night.

The Valentine's special had a great assortment of dishes to choose from. We loved the cowboy ribeye! Service was great even on a very busy night. The servers and hostesses made sure we were well taken care of and all our needs were met.

Enjoyed the modern farmhouse aesthetic but the food was awful. No flavor, poor quality. Food arrived cold. Poor sauce parings. Small portions of fish. Sauce on supposed high quality steaks. Appeared to be previously frozen or pre-packaged. Greens were overpowered by red onions. Sea Bass portion was 3”. Apple pie was mushy. The quality of the food was not of a high end restaurant. Truly disgusting and disappointed.
