The food quality has gone down as well as the drinks in the past the food is very good and the drinks were something to talk about. However, my experience last night was not that. My crab dip was very loose and did not have the taste of the ones that I've experienced in the past, also and my companion and I experienced stomach upset after eating the food therefore, I'm skeptical about returning to this restaurant.

The food was delicious. Everyone was pleased. People at our table had halibut, snake bite, crab cakes, among others. These entries were great. There were great meat, seafood, and vegetarian options. Jacob D. Provided great service. He was knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive. The managers checked on us two times also. The restaurant is beautiful, and is great for a date or special occasion.

As always, a great “experience”. The food is consistently above average and the Management team and wait staff are pleasant, professional and friendly! Overall A GREAT TIME! I've made my reservations for next month, lol

Service was great, food was just ok. I felt like everything needed more salt or flavor. I love the location and the overall ambience. The seafood also tasted really fresh. I plan to come back to try brunch.

We sat outside since the weather was great. But the tables were really for cocktails, low height and little room for plates. Food was pretty good, although it has been better there prior. Service was very good.

Great service and very inviting and pleasant ambiance. The food was a bit lacking for me though. The chicken was dry and didn't have much flavor to it. Hoping it was a one off, and may actually come back here again.

Overall, Blackwall Barn is a great restaurant, but on Aug 28th, for my family, it was horrible. I had taken my family there to celebrate my wife's birthday. Our reservation was for 1:15PM, so we arrived during Sunday Brunch. That was fine because my wife and daughter wanted the brunch special. For myself, I decided to wait until 2:00PM for the regular menu. When 2:00PM arrived, I had ordered a "special of the day" which was the Seafood Gumbo. The waitress had taken my order and I was expecting the plate to come in about 15 minutes. Well, 15 minutes later, the waitress came to me and said that the plate would be ready in 5 minutes. 10 minutes later, the waitress came to me and apologized for the food taking so long. She said it would be ready 5 minutes later.....10 minutes went by, so we managed to get the manager's attention. I said that I did not want the food since it had taken approximately over 40 minutes to prepare the food. The manager tried her best to apologize and repeatedly said that I did not want the plate since it had taken a long time for it to get cooked and I had to wait well over 90 minutes for myself to eat. o, the manager decided to go back and bring the plate anyway. Again, I had told her that I did not want the food due to the length of time it had taken. So she asked if I wanted it "to go" . I told her no. Then she asked my wife if she want it to go. My wife said no and then reminded her that it was my order, not hers. She seemed upset at me due to my refusal, but that was fine. They lost the sale of the plate that day. As I stated, this restaurant is nice, I really do like it. But on my wife's birthday, the service was horrible.

10/10. Kia at the bar was FANTASTIC! The service was phenomal! I have previously worked in restaurants and am hard to impress, but this right here is ELITE! We sat at the high tops in the bar area and had the best dining experience I've had in years. Okay so the food: We started with the brussel sprouts...delicious. Then we had the complementary bread...delicious. We inhaled them. Think red lobster but smaller, softer, and better executed! I could have eaten those alone and been happy. I got the brick chicken with fries and asparagus. My husband got the hot honey chicken. My meal was what?...delicious! The fries remind me of five guys which for me is not a bad thing! My husband's sandwich had so much chicken he made it into 2 sandwiches. To finish everything off, we had the cheesecake and bread pudding. I could have done without the apples in the bread pudding but they both were....you guessed it....delicious! We will definitely be back!

My mom's favorite restaurant. At 86 years old she doesn't get out much but when she does, we come here. My brother flew into town and dinner was outstanding as usual. Great staff and highly attentive.

This is my neighborhood place. My "go-to" for just about everything in life--from family celebrations to work meetings to social gatherings. It's the PERFECT place to have tucked away where I live. I truly LOVE everything about. Music, food, ambiance, service...the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because genuinely, for all I have just written about it--how I feel about it--how I rave about it to my friends and family--I don't feel the establishment appreciates its clients the same way. It's fine. I still get what I want and what I pay for--but make no mistake, I pay A LOT--it's not inexpensive. And I've felt nickeled and dimed a lot...whether it's for extra Naan bread with the amazing crab dip or the service charge for using a credit card to pay. Especially when it's literally my 3rd visit of the week for one reason or another. Now's when the music cues "I want you to want me...I need you to need me..." lol ...OVERALL--Fantastic place!!!

Wow doesn't even come close! I met a new friend for lunch today and she was also blown away. The decor and ambience is wonderful, but then I'm partial to dark wood. We were asked if we had a reservation but on a Monday at 1145, it didn't look necessary ;) Our server, James, was the exact amount of attentiveness I like. Gave us several minutes to just chat as we mentioned we were meeting for the first time in person. No hurry with anything - we were there for two hours! He was very knowledgeable about the foods and actually asked first thing if we had any allergies. When my friend said she's vegan, he brought her a special menu. Nice. I chose the French onion soup, which I've been craving for a while. I was especially glad that it comes in a bowl and not a bread bowl. I can never finish one of those and hate to waste food. The caramelized onions were perfect and plenty of them. The cheese - oh my, the cheese. So ooey gooey melty and luscious. James had brought a small basket of Old Bay biscuits with chive butter to serve as a starter, although it actually comes with the soup. I am really not an Old Bay fan (I know, sacrilege here in MD!) but I did eat one and it was OK. So many things with that flavor really overdo it and I truly can't eat that. This was fairly subtle and the chive butter made it quite tasty. I also had the caprese boat, aptly named as it comes in a long, thin, wooden trough. Fun! I only ate a little of it as I wanted to be able to devour all of my soup. I like the charred yellow peppers, nice little kick. My friend ordered the Mediterranean salad and raved about how fresh and crispy everything was. She commented that she had never eaten such sweet red bell pepper before. She had sparkling water and we were both surprised that she received a full liter bottle. I would have had a decaf after but all they had to go in it was 2% milk so I passed on that. Too full for dessert, too. Delicious lunch, excellent service, and a really fair price, around $36. I truly plan to go back! Parking is kind of skimpy in front and along the sides, but there's a large lot in back.

We held our small and intimate wedding ceremony in the cottage on 4.4.24 and I'm so happy we did.The scrumptious entrees selected (chicken, salmon and filet mignon) were perfectly prepared and sides were very fresh.I frowned at cookies for dessert but was l ever wrong! The events team were sooo responsive and accommodating. And the server was ever present but so efficient that she was almost invisible ? ? !I highly recommend holding all of your celebrations here.
