Sake Japanese Steakhouse

My daughter and I ate here last week. It was around 5:30 pm and we were using a coupon deal that was $40 for two hibachi dinners. There weren't a lot of people in the restaurant at the time. Several people were at the bar area and we ended up being the only ones at the hibachi grill. The atmosphere was so nice, clean, and inviting. The staff was great, attentive, and personable. The food was amazing. The amount of food included in the deal was out of this world. The coupon included a combo of chicken, shrimp and steak hibachi with fried rice, noodles, soup, and salad. The portions were huge. I can't recommend this location enough. The coupon we had was from the coupon mailer...it's a steal!

I have had no problems with sake in the past before I dined in. I went here to celebrate my birthday with family and so many things went wrong. The waiter was rude, she gave us dirty napkins with hair inside them to use for our utensils and the sushi I ordered gave me food poisoning. I got the tiger sushi roll and it was amazing, however I didn't know I’d regret eating it as my stomach cramped up as soon as I ate 3 rolls at the restaurant and I didn't enjoy my birthday dinner at all. I also suffered from Sunday to Thursday with food poisoning from the sushi. Although my family didn't get food poisoning, they had a stomach ache from the cooked food. I don't know what went wrong with Sake but I am extremely disappointed.

I went to Sake in Owings Mills, Maryland tonight, and I’m honestly beyond disappointed. I sat at the bar, ordered a drink and the Seafood Delight, something I’ve done many times before since I come here almost every week. First off, the drinks are always extremely weak and definitely not worth the price, even during happy hour. But tonight was just ridiculous.

After about 15 minutes, I got my soup and salad, and then nothing. I kept being told by the bartender that my food was coming. Thirty minutes later, still no meal. At that point, I told them I was leaving and would only pay for my drink. When I went to the front counter, they didn’t seem to care at all. No apology that felt genuine, no offer to make things right, just “I’m sorry, the bartender sent the food to the wrong kitchen.”

Even if that were true, how does that excuse not bringing me my meal when the restaurant wasn’t even busy? It was a Wednesday night, October 8th at 7pm, hardly peak time. The food was clearly made somewhere; why wasn’t it brought to the correct place?

Yes, the bartender was new, and mistakes happen, but the way this was handled by management was completely unacceptable. There was no accountability, no attempt to fix the situation, nothing. I live right here in the shopping center, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be coming back. I’ll just take my business to the Glen Burnie location. At least there the food, drinks, and management are all much better, and they actually take responsibility when things go wrong.

Delicious food! Try their “Yummy Roll” & “American Dream Roll” with the Strawberry Sake! Great event space with lots of tables available. There’s a long bar with sports TVs. There’s multiple hibachi grill areas with seating around them. Friendly staff, delicious food! Amazing prices on the sushi.

While space and decoration are good, food is an imitation of the Japanese cousin. I was in Japan. Noone eats like this in Japan. What this restaurant offers, is a poor imitation. Miso soup literally has one floating piece of mushroom. Green salad from a packet soaked in dressing is not Japanese. Size of plates is accustomed to American definition of generosity. What they serve, can be found in many other restaurants , not necessary Japanese once. Service is mediocre, some waitresses are nice, some are angry, do not smile and just shovel food on your table.

Terrible experience at the Owings Mills Sake location. I ordered sushi and a side of fried rice to go, and it took nearly an hour for them to get the order together. When I finally got the food, the fried rice was cold — completely unacceptable after such a long wait. The Glen Burnie Sake location provides way better service and quality. This location clearly doesn’t value their customers’ time or food standards, and I won’t be coming back.

Your establishment has to be more timely with delivery orders. Delivery workers end up waiting longer than they should have to.

We had been there 3 times before the last visit. It was good although very noisy. On this visit, at the end of the cooking the chef put about a teaspoon of chopped garlic on my steak. He did not ask about it. He just did it. Since I am sensitive to garlic, it made my food inedible. Previous times we were asked about food allergies but not this time. We will not be returning there. I tried to post on their FB page but they do not allow comments, just advertising their food. It is a pretty useless FB page.

I ordered chicken Hibachi. They put shrimp in my food. Shrimp aka water roaches in my food. I’m allergic. This is highly unsanitary and disgusting. Waitress was rude, I overlooked left a tip kept it moving. Food took a little longer than usual i overlooked left a tip remained courteous. Putting water roaches aka shrimp in my food UNACCEPTABLE and it was not crowded or no other apparent reason why this should have happened!
