Not sure if we’d ever go back. It was just eh. The food was definitely underwhelming considering they advertise employing a chef from a Netflix show. The small dining area was cold even sitting right next to the fireplace. The noise from the bar just echoed with their jibber jabber.
My husband & I went for Valentine’s Day dinner. We always order the 6 oz filet mignon when it’s on menu. He likes his well done & I like mine medium well. They’ve always been cooked perfectly in the past. Not this time. Both steaks were extremely well done (and much smaller than what we are used to). Again, my husband is used to well done steaks but even he said it was terrible. Very, very tough. The waitress offered to send mine back. I told her it was fine. Honestly, I didn’t want to wait another 20-30 minutes for another steak. My husband would have finished his meal long before I would have received it which kind of defeats the purpose of eating dinner together. We’ve been here several times over the years & this was the worst experience so far. Definitely a disappointment & not worth the $ spent.
Did not stay overnight, so don't know about the rooms. Attended a Baby Shower in one of the smaller dining areas. Food and service were incredible. Will definitely go back to try their other amenities!

We had an amazing Thanksgiving meal here last year. This year, not so much. The turkey looked and tasted like it came out of a can. Instead of mashed potatoes and gravy, cold macaroni salad sat on the table. The staff was really young & chatted at a sign-in podium near our table. They talked about how they couldn’t wait to get out of there. One staff member used a dust bin and broom to clean the floor under the tables near us. The bin clanked all over the wood floor while we were eating our $50 plates of food. We laughed out loud, and we were nice to the staff member when she asked us if we were laughing at her. But we won’t go back. We wish them well.

I went with my Wife and In-laws on a Thursday night. We were early on in dinner service, only one other table seated when we arrived. We asked to be seated inside as the insects were heavy that day. No problem with that except, I thought it was strange that we were seated right next to the other group when the place was empty, but whatever.
Our server, MacKenzie, was great. She took our drink order. Got our appetizer order in quickly, we had the Crab dip, for the table. It came out fast and was tasty. She took our dinner order and everything was nice. Her service was excellent.
Now the problems. I ordered the Prairie and Pier, which is a crabcake and and BBQ ribs, Both my wife and father in law each ordered the Ribeye, and mother in law had Spinach and Mushroom Rigatoni.
The food came out a little slow, but no big deal, the problem was the actual meals themselves. To start my crabcake was very good. But my BBQ ribs were basically inedible, nevermind pulling the meat off the bone, I couldn't cut them with a knife. They were so overcooked that I just didn't bother trying to eat them. Extremely disappointing.
Both my wife and father in laws steaks were way over seasoned with salt. They were edible, but not great. Wasn't the worst, but would expect better.
My mother in laws Spinach Mushroom Rigatoni, DIDN'T HAVE SPINACH IN IT. For some reason it had tomatoes instead. Now she likes tomatoes and it wasn't really a problem because she thought it was very good. We mentioned that to our server so it was known.
Both desserts were good. My wife and I shared a piece of cheesecake witch was excellent. My mother in law got the Warm peach cobbler, which was tasty but the peaches were hard.
All and all it was a disappointing night. We had high hopes for this meal and heard great things about the new Kitty Knight House. The new Chefs reputation has proceeded him, especially since my wife and I both had previously worked in the restaurant industry for years. We are not foodies, but we do know some things. He is a know commodity dare I say "celebrity " chef. So we expected a quality that just wasn't there.
We always give a place a second try, and we will with the Kitty Knight House. Hopefully it was just a bad night and things will be better the next time.
Beautiful historic inn with amazing views and restaurant was incredible ❤️
Horrible service slow got beer in cans no glass. 4th time here not going back. Fish Whistle much better
I ate at the restaurant for the first time in several years, but I don’t remember having a bad experience until now.
I ordered the Fish & Chips which i get an nearly every restaurant i eat if it’s on the menu. When i received my meal i initially thought i had received a children’s menu item of fish sticks & fries because that’s exactly what it was, 3 fish sticks and fries equivalent to burger King fries. The waitress apologized but i told her it wasn’t her fault. I assumed she would relay my disappointment to the manager who would address it with me, but that never happened. I can’t speak for their other dishes, but avoid what they call Fish & chips.

Wow, looks like I’m eating crow…but then again it may be better than the food at Kitty Knight House Deep Blue.
Just a few weeks ago, I shared with a variety of friends and neighbors how the deep blue restaurant transformed it mediocre food into something much improved and yummy…although I felt the menu limited and was nickeled and dimed over the cost for each dinner roll ordered to accompany soup, an appetizer and entrée… Not necessary a value but as the view was exceeding pleasing and the food much improved and sometimes, you just feel a need to go out...
Today was there for an early lunch. Took a long time to get the food – no complaint with the server, but then it was not good food.
The crab bisque was served cold and could be likened to a cream of tomato soup with a dapple of crab meat. The calamari appetizer was cold, limp, overly chewy - I could not even finish a bite. Not to mention it was to be accompanied by Thai chili sauce but was served with a dap of some sort of mayo sauce. The large Caesar salad with blackened shrimp was anemic, small and for that price ($14 for the salad and another $11 for blackened shrimp) and not even a hint of anchovy in the dressing (or much of any dressing or flavor) and the shrimp were small and definably not blackened. How hard is it to blacken shrimp?
I fear that we live in an area where mediocre cuisine…perhaps excused by the average age of the customer being older (based on overheard comments), lack of expertise, complacency and far few choices.
What is needed is some decent restaurants in the area with culinary skills. Take for example Lewes, Delaware; a beach town that has many local restaurants of varying degrees of quality, cuisine style and price - with little or no surprises (and this area has a large population of baby boomers).
Its not just the number of people that frequent them but there seemly more choices and if a restaurant doesn’t deliver, they are out of business very soon because there are choices.
Bottom line, next time I feel like eating out, I’ll go to out of the area or choose to have some friends over and prepare a nice a meal with fresh quality ingredients that is visibly pleasing, skillfully prepared and delicious. This way, I’ll forgo my continued disappointment and have a wonderful meal!

I grew up in the area and have eaten here many times. This is the best the food has ever been! The new chef is incredible and the atmosphere is perfect. Great deck and beautiful views outside! This is definitely our new favorite spot again!
I didn't stay at the inn but ate at the restaurant. Third time there. The food is OK but they have yet to get their act together on service. Ran out of nonalcoholic beer, very slow to bring food out. They sell two sizes of wine and when we ordered a 6 oz and a 9 oz they were both filled tovthe 6 iz line MARKED ON THE GLASS. We had reservations for a birthday and they didn't bring the cake out to sing happy birthday; just sliced it right up. Then the waitress failed to give our credit card back at the end. A shame...it's a pretty place.
Hostess staff is clueless, food not up to par and I don’t think the new chef is ever there. Cherry Crush only played until 9:30 instead of 10:00 and probably because no one was there.
Our son bought us a gift certificate as a Christmas present. Specifically called to see if they were dog friendly. Yes, they are. But guess what?! They don’t allow dogs anymore and no refunds. And yet They still advertise that dogs are allowed
Lunch at the little bar in the cozy historic tavern was a treat.
