This is the best Italian restaurant in the DC/MD/VA area by far. It’s a bit of a drive for us from Bethesda, MD but if you want consistently excellent food & service, Mamma Lena is simply the very best.

Visiting from out of town. Drove 30 minutes to get there. It did not say anywhere on the website that reservations were required. Walked in to see if we could dine in. Restaurant was empty and we were told there were no available times for dinner today.

I had a wonderful time at this Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A big thank you to the two owners and Ms. Lena for their exceptional hospitality – they truly made the experience special. Highly recommend!

Love the food, love the service, and love the desert. We went for lunch, and all of us enjoyed our food greatly. We will be back soon. Several options for desert. We tried the tramisu and portfolio, delicious. Highly recommended.

The food at Mamma Lena is amazing! The chicken parmesan, the carbonara, the pizza, the tiramisu, the wine. So many great options.

I called to confirm a food allergy. The general attitude of the person who answered the phone was horrendous. If you check the other reviews on google you will see a history of this pour conduct. I do understand when things get busy and people work hard it can be challenging answering questions and accommodating special requests. But! federal law requires attention to allergies and if you can't follow that one.. what else can't you be bothered to do while the kitchen because... your... what.. too busy to be bothered making the food you wanted to sell?

It's a small place, but it has a lot of charm and amazing, authentic food! Many things are imported, and everything we tried was delicious. I'd definitely come back again soon :)

True Italian specialties here and a real stand out. Mama Lena is so special it is not just quality food but the clean settings, super friendly staff of Johnny and Rick to name a few. It is clear they want the experience for everyone to be special. It always is special at Mama Lena. PS: order the weekend specials. :)

I cannot emphasize enough: AMAZING food, AMAZING staff, AMAZING atmosphere.

Now, I visited Mamma Lena's for the first time after my mother-in-law and I drove around for 20 minutes trying to pick a place to eat. She suggested an Italian restaurant, but those chain restaurants are just not good. I said I heard good things about this place, so hey, let's try it. She was skeptical when we drove up because the outside isn't attractive, and almost didnt agree to try it. That would have been a big mistake!

We walked in and got a very warm welcome from two very kind gentleman. We were seated, and we were brought water immediately. The gentleman reviewed the menu options with us and we proceeded to order the same gorgonzola and pear pasta dish. While we waited, we were brought bruchetta (best bruchetta i have ever had) and a side salad on the house (even the side salad was delicious). The gentlemen were both so personable and entertaining. There was not a dull moment while we were waiting. Our meals were to-die-for. While we were eating, we were brought a basket of focaccia bread (one of my favorites). Then, I ate too much of the bread, and didn't leave enough for my mother-in-law. The man teased that I ate it all and didn't leave her any, and then brought us more!

Now, I am STUFFED and of course, worried for what I know I will be asked about next: dessert. The man said the tiramisu is Mamma Lena's specialty, so now i had no choice. I need to preface this by saying that I am very picky about my tiramisu. My Italian grandmother makes the best tiramisu. Well, now grandma AND Mamma Lena make the best tiramisu!

The kicker is, I have lived 2 minutes away from this amazing restaurant for 3 years and am just now trying it.

This will now be my go-to place for date night and anniversary dinners.

Please hear me and do yourself a favor: go try Mamma Lena's now, you will NOT regret it!!

Mama Lena Trattoria Napoletana is hands down one of the best Italian spots in Germantown and MOCO! From the moment we sat down, we were treated like family. We started with complimentary Bruschettas—such a nice touch—and the Antipasto della Casa was the perfect starter. For mains, I had the Spaghetti Aglio & Basilico con Gamberoni, and my dining partner had the Pappardelle Funghi e Salsiccia. Both were cooked to perfection, with flavors that took me straight to Italy. We ended the meal with a rich Chocolate Truffle cake and a glass of Chianti Classico.

Great service, cozy atmosphere, and authentic food. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommend for anyone craving real Italian cuisine. ??
