Rude staff. Called to ask a question and was hung up on
Service: 1
Called in for carry out and the employee rushed me off the phone, brushed it off as them being busy. Went to the restaurant 15-20 min later for pick up and they only had like 2-3 tables not even busy. Ordered a General Taos chicken combo lo mein and some other dishes. General Taos chicken was soggy and super salty lo mein had absolutely no flavor you would have thought the chef that made it was white. Lady at the register was rude didn’t like the fact that I opened the bag to check to make sure everything was right. The orange chicken from Trader Joe’s is probably better, honestly save your money go to the Panda Express in Germantown.

Unfortunately this place discriminates. On 9/26/2025 @ 4:30pm I went to get food before coming to work. The server refused to bring me my food , she placed it down on a table that wasn't near me, and when I asked her if that was my food ? She said yes and told me to come get and refused to bring it to me. And she continued talking to her co worker in her language as she sat back down refusing to serve a paying customer. I will NEVER patronize this place again, and I also will inform family and friends not to go there. If had not already paid for the food I would've left it. Unfortunately I waisted money on food that I didn't eat because I threw it away. I refuse to eat from a place who treats there customers with discrimination and disgusting behavior.

It's not often that I get to eat authentic Cantonese cuisine in the DMV area. We got the barbeque combo (crispy pork and duck), French style filet mignon and rice noodle with beef. We had enough leftovers for dinner at home later that night.
The barbeque combo (4.5/5) was delicious, although I wish the duck had more meat. The crispy pork had super crispy skin. The filet mignon dish was pretty good (4/5), and the rice noodle dish is a classic Cantonese dish was standard (4/5).
It's a no frills type of Cantonese food place.

Worse service I’ve ever had. Staff was rude and very unfriendly. The person who seated us tried to take our chop sticks and give us forks (but didn’t do that to the couple that came in after and gave them their order before us) also didn’t let us finish our order just walked away. at check out the price was 1/3 higher than on their menu and then she tried to demand a tip like no you over charged us, I’ve never been somewhere and not tipped but this place didn’t deserve anything. Food wasnt awful but it tasted incredibly bland
EDITED 6/5/25- they charged me for a tip after I specially did not tip so now I’m being forced to dispute it with my credit card company

Walking in, we were seated at a table that was set for two with forks and chopsticks. My partner and I went to sit, and the waitress assumed neither of us could use chop sticks. I asked for them back but my partner was not given a choice. Another couple entered and seemed to be regulars or something because they seated themselves and were served before us despite being in for a couple minutes before them. The food was fine, but the service really lost them money as I wasnt able to order everything I wanted either.
On top of that, when we went to go pay, like other reviews claim, they did insist on a tip. They pushed me for a tip when I did not “circle a tip” and only signed my signature. We are also fairly certain it was too expensive for what we ordered. Spare yourself the headache and get delivery or something.

Service does matter. Restaurants, especially dine-in establishments, are not simply in the food business but in the hospitality business. When you are a customer, you deserve to be treated with basic courtesy and respect. This is sadly not the case at New Village. There are numerous reviews here where people have shared their experiences of very negative interactions with the staff at this restaurant, and I can echo that personally. These are not isolated incidents. It's not one person who just happened to have a bad day. It's a pattern. It's who they are. There are plenty of other restaurants in this area where you can get good food and be treated well by staff who really try hard to be hospitable. Reward those businesses instead with your hard-earned money.

This place discriminates. They didn’t think I could understand what they were talking about. When ordering a roast duck, we ordered half a roast duck. The table that came after us got half a roast duck also but they got their order before us and got better pieces- breast pieces. These people were speaking Chinese with the restaurant servers and the guy serving may be the owner. We had to wait for our half a duck even though we got to the restaurant first and they gave us the pieces that had all bones. This is the second time we ate here and got the same treatment; we cane back because the food is decent. They discriminate in this restaurant. Don’t come here.

I had to attend on a non busy day but overall the place was semi-clean and the staff was really friendly. I really enjoyed the egg drop soup and I got the Kung Po chicken and shrimp. My guest got the chicken and garlic. Overall it was average, the worst part about this is that I can't tell what it was missing. It had a little flavor, it was a little spicy, and the shrimp were very little. the garlic and chicken I feel like there was no garlic just gravy chicken. The plates came out looking very delicious can I help boost the Stars to 4 for service and atmosphere. Maybe Google will let us get do half ratings in the future but for now they get four stars.
Parking: Right next to the bank so the bank takes up a lot of parking.

I don’t usually give reviews and I always tip, even if the service is terrible and food is mediocre (like here), I always tip 20% because it’s the easiest to do the math. However, this place is simply…AWFUL. As soon as we walked in, the man was rude. I chalked it up to the “Chinese demeanor” as most are pushy, have an attitude and sound rude but sometimes aren’t. We ordered our food and after the food came out, no one else came to check on us. Fine, whatever. So when our checks came, we boxed up our food, and I left a tip. On the receipt, there is a recommended 15%, 18% and 20%. The 15% was $13.78 but I gave $13 and even that was generous given how terrible the service was. Again, whatever. As we were leaving, the 2 ladies stopped us before we walked out the door to tell us we didn’t tip what was written on the receipt as RECOMMENDED tip. I said, I tipped you 15%, it says $13 right there. And she said “no tip is $13.78, you change it.” And forcibly handed it back to me and said “you write that tip” pointing to the 15, 18 or 20 percent tips. At this point, I was so irritated and wanted to just leave this place I put an extra 78 cents because my time standing there arguing with her was worth more than 78 cents. In retrospect, I should have taken that receipt back, given her my customer copy and wrote no tip. You cannot force someone to tip you an amount you think you deserve. People have the right to tip any amount they deem is acceptable based on the service they receive. I’ve worked as a server, I know the feeling which is why I always, at a minimum tip 15% even if the food and/or service sucked. I will never return here and would recommend you all find another place to dine. Plenty more other Chinese restaurants in the area to spend your money on.

A little disappointed: we ordered crab meat with asparagus soup, it came a crab meat soup with something else, not asparagus, when we asked them , we were told that they didn't have asparagus, so they used a substitute ingredient. They should let us know that they didn't have asparagus, so we would switch to an another soup. Not ethical.
An Asian gentleman is an overbearing aggressive who is giving the orders for food
