Yuraku Japanese Restaurant - Germantown, MD

I have been coming here since I was a kid, but regularly since 2011. You will not find a better sushi lunch buffet in the immediate area. This place has locked it down.

I have watched them grow and evolve over the years and they still remain the best sushi lunch buffet. The regular menu can be pricey but you will notice a difference in quality from their lunch offerings.

It's more of a mom and pop/hole in the wall vibe so it's not one of those places that puts emphasis on the interior, but what they lack in interior, they gain in quality. I love their food the most and they bring in a lot of variety.

Service is always so friendly and nice. The staff tend to stay for a while so I am glad to become a regular and they all recognize me.

Bring cash to save some money, but they do accept credit cards.

Food was pretty good, felt a bit pricy but the rolls were mostly worth it. We did have a couple of things missing/ forgotten throughout the meal. But we got everything by the end.

Fresh. Busy sushi place equals high turnover of inventory which means fresh sushi. Is it the cheapest place? Debatable. But i always have a great meal here. And free grilled salmon heads? Always a plus. I have a secret favorite meal here which i wont tell you about because the value for money for the dish is amazing, and if it gets too popular they're gonna raise the price.

The server was hostile and kept demanding larger amount of tip. After paying my full total and I’ve walked out after receiving card. Server young. Held my brother inside the restaurant requesting him to call me to come back in to change amount of tip. I told her tip guide is not mandatory. I tip base on service and how much I am able to afford. I’ve already payed for our food. She kept on requesting $20 tip. In the middle of the restaurant. Awful.

The quality of the sushi at Yuraku has definitely gone back up. Have the lunch buffet, the quality has been improved.

The one thing I very much don't like is that they serve hot tea out of plastic pitchers. This is a big no-no with regard to micro-plastics and leeching chemicals.

I very much hope someone from the restaurant sees this and corrects this.

Top sushi restaurant in Germamantown/ Gaithersburg! Super fresh fish, always! Delicious lunch buffet and worth every penny. It has been a go-to for over a decade and the quality never dissappints.

Friendly staff. Generous helpings on the Sushi. Japanese Beer. Whole family had a great time and dinner.

The buffet is well stocked at lunch.

Definitely stop in.

Update:
The lunch buffet is not the draw it used to be. Increasing prices are definitely noticeable.

The food itself was great. The price though… sheesh. Spent $85 across three items thinking it’d be enough for 3 people. Mildly disappointed we’re all still hungry
