There are certain places that you like to go because the feel like a neighborhood place. Not like a chain restaurant or some transplant that saw an opportunity to open in an up-and-coming area. Sorrento has been around Arbutus for forever. It's unpretentious in what it is, which is the local beer and pizza place. The food is good, the pizza slices are generous, the staff is pleasant, the bathrooms are weirdly small with bizarrely tiny sinks (but always clean), the seating is plentiful, and the pinball games and grabber machines are the cheapest you'll find (even if one seems to be permanently out of order). More importantly, they are just a part of the community. You'll see Sorrento at every local school fundraiser and trunk or treat. They tweak their menu to account for a largely catholic population by offering lent menus. They're an institution, the sort of community cornerstone that is disappearing all too quickly.

Out of state students beware. I am a recent UMBC grad and Management claimed my valid GA ID was fake and kicked me, my partner, and our friend visiting from GA out. Extremely disappointed bc I have previously really enjoyed this restaurant. I would always bring my family when they came to visit. If you have an ID from another state, don’t try and order alcohol.

Didn’t get to try our food because Anthony V (not sure if that was his name, but a bald manager with glasses) just decided to kick out three paying customers with valid IDs. Don’t get any of the workers on a bad day otherwise they’ll take it out on you 🤷🏽♂️

You say how you keep doing the same things for 60 years but also state how things have changed or how they are done now. You under deliver and have ruined Arbutus most nostalgic location.

Order stated it came with 3 breadsticks and only received 2. I also requested ranch and Caesar received two ranch. I feel some parts were neglected. Service was great.

Took my toddler in for a quick slice at Sorrento of Arbutus, and I genuinely regret not just grabbing a Lunchables pizza instead. it might’ve had more flavor and at least a little charm.
The slice we got was a sad, greasy triangle of disappointment. The cheese tasted like it came from a discount warehouse. The sauce? Bland, metallic, and utterly forgettable. And the crust… I’m not even convinced it was made on-site. It had that unmistakable “frozen truck dough” vibe. Lifeless, chewy, and completely soulless. Oh, and the conveyor oven really seals the deal by removing any last trace of character from the pie.
I get that Sorrento has been around forever, and maybe this kind of food flew in the 80s. But in a world where even gas stations are stepping up their pizza game, there’s no excuse for this level of mediocrity. Arbutus deserves better.
If you’re looking for pizza nostalgia, go ahead. If you’re looking for pizza worth eating… keep driving.
Had my son’s 16th birthday there with 14 family members. They could not have been nicer! So accommodating and so pleasant. The homemade Sangria was delicious. This is definitely going on my “girls night out” list!
