I was so excited to try this place out. What a mistake. Portions are very small. I got the chicken yaki udon, and the chicken was this strange tissue-thin shaved stuff that had a horrible unappetizing smell..kind of like leather. I tried a bite and couldn’t do it. See the picture. It was awful. My husband got shrimp yakisoba which had a bunch of crunchy bits on top, which he didn’t like. One of our dinner items never arrived so we asked them to take it off the bill, paid, and left. We had to go to Chick-fil-A next door to fill our tummies.

Awesome experience. Food was good. Small portions, but well priced. You’ll find yourself ordering several times throughout your visit. Pretty cool to watch the little robot server deliver food.

Prices seemed surprisingly cheap, until we received food. The portions here are EXTREMELY SMALL! You might consider ordering 2 entrees to meet the expectation and satisfaction of a normal 1 entree at other comparable restaurants. I don't understand why you can't get a generous portion when you are primarily dealing with main ingredients of rice and noodles? We ordered 3 entrees and 1 appetizer for 3 people, and all 3 people were still hungry after our meal? With the small portions and the lack of flavor and quality of food, we won't be returning.

Our family of 5 can always agree on THIS place for dinner out. It is so charming, you feel transported to Japan, the servers are very kind and the robots are adorable. The food is so good especially the sushi and we are sushi snobs.

Izakaya 68 in Hunt Valley offers a unique dining experience, transporting you straight to the nostalgic alleyways of Tokyo's Omoide Yokocho. The decor perfectly captures the intimate and slightly gritty charm of those tiny hacker stalls, creating a vibrant and atmospheric setting. This alone makes it worth a visit.
The menu is extensive, boasting a wide array of Japanese street food favorites. From classic ramen dishes like shoyu and tonkotsu to takoyaki, robata skewers, and a tempting selection of seafood, there's something for everyone. Our lunch for two included tuna and yellowtail maki sushi, a raw saba (mackerel) small plate, beef tenderloin and skirt skewers, littleneck clams steamed in sake, and a calamari skewer.
The real novelty here is the service, or rather, the lack of traditional service. All ordering is done conveniently through a QR code on your phone, and when your food is ready, it's delivered by a friendly robot! This futuristic touch adds a fun element, especially for those dining with children. Our food arrived remarkably fast.
The food itself was a mixed bag. The sushi and steamed clams were definite highlights, fresh and flavorful. However, the calamari robata was unfortunately overcooked and chewy, almost inedible. While most dishes were acceptable, none were particularly outstanding.
The pricing, however, is a point of concern. For lunch for two, our bill came to around $90 after tip, which felt a bit steep considering the portion sizes and overall food quality. While the experience is undeniably unique, the value proposition isn't quite there.
Overall, Izakaya 68 is a great spot for a special occasion, primarily for its captivating atmosphere. The robot delivery system is a fun gimmick, and the menu offers a broad selection. However, be prepared for slightly higher prices and some inconsistencies in food quality. It's definitely worth experiencing at least once, but it might not become a regular dining destination due to the cost.
Vegetarian options: some options that are labeled
Parking: Plenty of lot parking adjacent to the restaurant
Kid-friendliness: Some items for the more adventurous kiddos
Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant entrance sits on top of a hill but there are wheelchair ramps and paved sidewalks to get there. Inside the restaurant is big enough to accommodate

Surprised I haven’t tried this place sooner! This restaurant is beautifully decorated and welcoming. Food is ordered via website (scan the QR code on the table) and delivered by cute robot attendants! The menu was large and had many selections for different items to try. The pricing was very reasonable making it exciting to pick out various items to taste without worry of high cost. I got the chicken Katsu curry which was pretty good, I have been spoiled with really excellent Japanese curry and this didn’t quite live up to other dishes I’ve had, but I still enjoyed it as a comforting meal. The gyoza and California roll were great! The grilled meat skewers are also a must try. I will certainly be returning to try more items on the (very long!) menu! Such a great place to go, especially with friends!

This place needs to charge way more than what they already do. The food is simply astonishing, the prices are amazing, and to top it off the atmosphere is very welcoming! The staff are super friendly and how can you not love a robot kitty waiter!! You can pet it too!! Absolutely divine! Will come back again for sure!
