Wish we had Marie's in Duluth. Definitely worth the wait time. True diner experience and great made from scratch food. The place was packed with a line of people waiting to get in. Should of taken a photo of the biscuits and gravy but couldn't wait to dig in.

Here at about 11AM. (Thinking the crowd would be smaller! Wrong answer - we had a 20 min. wait!! ) Once in - ordered quickly and food arrived quickly! their Grilled pork chop (1pc - lunch size) was great and large ($9.99) and their Italian cheese steak was also large and tasty ($9.99). Cream-of-crab soup was just OK - very thick, could hold-up the spoon! ($5.99). Their food is generally very "homey and comfort-food like". ALWAYS A WAIT, SO THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!!

We are in from out of town and kept passing this place. It always has alot of cars outside so we just had to try it. The food was delicious. My husband had the club sandwich and I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes with green beans. Everything obviously home cooked and was wonderful. So glad we stopped! They had some amazing looking desserts but we were so full for lunch we didn't get any.

Small town diner, big time meals!
We finally ventured here and are so mad at ourselves for taking so long to make it...
The options...oh the options are many.
The servings are plentiful and delicious and the kitchen cranks out the food like a machine! The staff is so amazingly friendly. It's no wonder there is always a line of people waiting to get in! We will certainly be back...and waiting with everyone else!

Generally, I avoid diners for dinner because the breakfast food is where they shine and dinners not so much. Marie's Diner is not the exception. I understand that it is crowded at breakfast time, but we were seated right away at 5:30 PM on a Thursday. It is true that you won't leave hungry: portions and sides add up. But of our combined dinners, only my chicken was very good. The starter salads were the typical ones with lots of cheese and croutons. If I recall correctly, I did like the dressing. Then I had the country fried chicken but with no gravy. I give the breaded chicken 5 stars because it was moist and delicious and did not need the gravy. Unfortunately, I did not like my mushy broccoli very much and I found the biscuit to be just ok. My husband did not like his broccoli either and found that one of his two grilled pork chops was overcooked and dry. His cornbread and my sweet potato fries were fine, but his apples were tasteless. I realize that I may be judging this place too harshly--it is after all a diner, not a fancy restaurant.

Hole in the wall diner. I love their fried okra. The breakfast burger is also wonderful.

Excellent old timey diner feel in a place that gets exceptionally busy each and everyday. That is a testament to their delicious menu. I’m not throwing in pictures because there are already plenty….just go and put something in your mouth! I highly recommend the pancakes, they are huge and they use lard which gives it phenomenal flavor. Get there early if you don’t want to wait!

Lot of elderly people, given food tasted like old leftovers, bread was stale and hard. Felt like I was in an musky senior care center. Waiters were kind and friendly which makes writing this unpleasant.

It's an ole diner some like that atmosphere and usually elderly people are just sweet and loving but one had bladder problems that day, With meatloaf being not very good and mashed potatoes being bland, and mac & cheese having no taste and taste like it was microwaved unfortunately just killed any and all appetite I had.

The food was amazing and the staff were super friendly. Even though the place was crowded, the food came out in a timely fashion.

The food was delicious and tasted like it was made from scratch. Had the country fried chicken and the gravy was wonderful. The cornbread and cornbread stuffing was amazing

The food is decent, the service is phenomenal because I typically ask for the same server. However, a bit of discernment goes a long way in business and I don't think Marie's has mastered that. My first issue is that they refuse to seat people until their entire party comes in. The rest of my party is literally outside on the phone, as to not be rude and hold a conversation amongst the patrons. But I have to stand there until they get off the phone and come in. My second issue is carding regulars and those who are 50, 60, 70 years old. I understand that you have to ensure that one is of age. However, if someone patronizes you on a regular basis and you've carded them before, this is where discernment comes in....there's no need to keep carding the same person. Also, people of a certain age look that way for the most part. There's no need to be carding someone who clearly looks of age, has salt and pepper hair, and other physical characteristics that say that the person is well over the age of 21. Again...discernment needs to be tapped into! These things compromise overall customer service! I'm truly thinking about not continuing to patronize Marie's and don't recommend because while the food is good, customer service is paramount. Overall quality is a must!

Kim & Tracy very rude at checking in to be seated. Was told could not be seated til other guest (aka: customer present). Said it was owners rules, asked to speak with owner. Then told owner not available. Offered a manager, who had no resolution.
