I came to eat here with family before heading back to PA and didn’t enjoy the experience at all. Kayla, our server, was really inattentive. We had to wait like 30 minutes for our check alone after asking…. Also heard yelling in the kitchen, which isn’t conducive to a comfortable eating environment. We wont be coming here again.

This place isn’t what it used to be - eggs are always cold and the crepes are the doughiest I’ve ever had…. Dissatisfying.

I’ve been working for the Farmhouse Creperie for 2 years now as the only Black server. I’ve been harassed and grabbed by the owner on multiple occasions. I’ve told management about it which is his daughter. When I told her about the incidents and how I didn’t feel comfortable she told me that’s just how her Dad acts and he treats everyone this way. I told her I don’t think any employer should put their hands on an employee. I told I’ve also haven’t seen him grab anyone other than African American men and Hispanic Females. She told me she would resolve the issue but the harassment has continued in other ways such as write ups cutting hours and giving me tasks that almost impossible to complete. I’ve stuck it out because the customers love me and I do enjoy working in the public. Unfortunately there was an incident that involved another African American Male that owner decided to scream in his face and push him because he was putting his phone away. We are legally allowed to have our phones out in case of emergency. But as soon as my coworker did the same as every other employee he was prosecuted for his race. Due to this I decided to stick up for him because I and other individuals haven’t been treated fair or equally. I told Mr. Devane that this is discrimination and if it was anyone else it would be different. He gets upset has the manger on duty to call emergency then he storms out. The manger explains to everyone that their not allowed to use their phones. I thought this was ok at the time because I thought it was fair that everyone is now obligated. Didn’t realize that it was him trying to cover the fact that discrimination was occurring in the first place. This occurred on 09/28/25 I’m off the following day but I received a call from the owners Daughter. She’s tells me their going to have to cut me down to two days a week. I ask her why because I’ve been working 40 hours a week which is 5 days. I told her no one can live off of 2 days I don’t understand I’ve been working here for 2 years since the restaurant opened. She tells me that her father and her have gotten multiple personal phone calls saying that I’m inattentive to my tables and this is punishment for that. When I ask her for what they said and when did they come in she’s gives me no explanation. I told her this unacceptable when you have individual in the kitchen nodding out but I’m being punished for speaking up for another individual. I told her I can’t accept that and I would continue with the schedule that is out for next 3 weeks. She Decides to terminate me because she thinks it’s in everyone’s best interest. I know Maryland is a at will state but she had sign documents stating it’s 3 write ups then it’s termination. I’ve only had one in the past 2 years and it was with a manager who doesn’t even work their anymore. Not to mention the number of health code violations, walk in is full of black mold the soda machine is full of black mold and the floor in the server station is about to fall through due to water getting under the floor boards. She recently had me replace the air conditioner filters before she fired me they hadn’t been changed in 2 years since they opened full of mold and grease. I also don’t know how it was ok to fire me but one of her head chefs is nodding out in the back? If you like supporting racist and don’t value your dollar then please come try our packaged salmon cakes or packaged country fried steak. Honestly everything is packaged and nothing is cooked “Fresh” the bacon sausage and scrapple are all cooked days in advance then just reheated on the flat top. You think your getting shelled eggs in reality there liquid eggs everything from the scrambled eggs to that $14 omelette. The bucket of crepe mix in the back doesn’t cost more then $15 dollars to make yet charging you the same price for one crepe? Don’t order alcohol here unless you just want flavoring 1oz of alcohol in every beverage. They’re making a killing while barely even paying their employees minimum wage and Please tip your server because they take their money at th

4-Star Review: The Farmhouse - La Plata Charm and Great Food!

My family and I had a lovely visit to The Farmhouse in La Plata recently, and overall, it was a wonderful experience!

Atmosphere and Service

The atmosphere in the building was a truly pleasant site. You can tell it’s a family-oriented restaurant that is wholesome and put together with love. We didn't have a long wait to be seated, which was great, and our server, Debbie, was fantastic—attentive and friendly!

The Food

My wife and I ordered the salmon cakes platter, and they were outstanding! The menu description is accurate; it’s definitely fresh salmon, not the canned version, and it made a huge difference. The potatoes served with the meal were very hearty and satisfying.

My kids absolutely loved their mini pancakes! I snuck a taste, and they were indeed cooked perfectly and tasted amazing.

The only negative I noticed was that the eggs appeared to be powdered eggs instead of fresh shell eggs. That was a bit of a disappointment given the quality of the rest of the meal.

Final Verdict

Despite the egg situation, the quality of the salmon cakes, the amazing pancakes, and the wonderful service from Debbie make this a great spot. We will absolutely be returning in the future!

It took 40 minutes to get breakfast on a Wednesday morning. The food came out hot, so it wasn't our server. How can it take forty minutes to make pancakes and eggs?

Been here twice now. Crepes are fantastic. Portions are big. Service is always pleasant. It's a little tight with seating, but makes it cozy i suppose. Cute decor and theme. If you like the classic, Chipped Beef, they have it.

Just a really neat little place with a downhome feel that has great food and great service. The house/restaurant is also set up beautifully with old timey decor.
