I went in hungry and left hungry. This is not what I am use to eating. I couldn't even finish my salad the dressing wasn't good. I usually love to eat the salads. I got teriyaki chicken and there was too much teriyaki sauce on it for me.

This place has one heck of an atmosphere! Walls are decorated to make the place look as Japanese as possible. TV was on, playing a Japanese TV network. The restaurant had a visible food preparation area where the sushi chefs enthusiastically did their work. Restaurant did not pinch pennies on the waiters' and chefs' uniforms. The restaurant is on the corner of a row of several adjacent buildings and I liked their use of their window space. Once you open the door, the entrance is well-decorated, too. The podium the host stands behind is oddly situated, but they are making their best use of a small space, so no points taken off. The restroom was clean. I ordered escolar, toro, orata, and chicken katsu. All more than acceptable quality. I did not like the katsu sauce, but I think that's just a personal preference matter. They threw in some extra food- tuna in a circular configuration with some other elements I couldn't figure out- which I guess worked, since I'm here, writing this five-star review! Plates were high-quality, and designed to make the food more presentable.

My roommate recommended this place... And I'm extremely glad they did. The service was fantastic, the sushi is fair priced and good quality. The dumplings were delicious. I will be definitely be a regular here. Highly recommend.

The food tasted great and could not have had a better presentation. The portion to price was also very satisfying.The service was above and beyond. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and my drink was never near empty. The waitress was very polite and patient as I took my time to survey the menu.The atmosphere was very relaxing and well decorated. I would recommend any one come for a great meal and experience.

Went in with my family of 5 and staff were extremely nice. Service was great and the food was delicious. They gave us a free desert after a friendly conversation with the waitress and a voucher for our next visit. 100% recommend and would visit again.

I lived in Japan 4 1/2 years. Matsu reminds me so much of my time there. It's wonderfully decorated, quiet and laid back. Yet, everyone there was enjoying themselves, including the group of Japanese patrons speaking Japanese and clearly enjoying their meals.There is an extensive sushi/sashimi selection with many specialties, and a correspondingly comprehensive seafood menu. So much to choose from!I had the Matsu bento box with chicken gyoza as an appetizer. Exquisite! Every bite was perfect. My mom had shrimp and veggie tempura, dad had shrimp fried rice. They're both rather hard to please at restaurants but were all smiles at Matsu.Prices are very reasonable, the more so considering the quality of the food, the variety offered, and the very nice, quiet atmosphere.It's really a great place, give a try, you'll be back!Vegetarian options: Many Japanese dishes are vegetarian.Dietary restrictions: Soy products are prevalent, as are shellfish. Ask about cross-contsmination in the kitchen if these are serious allergies for you.

They were kind, patient, and when I asked them to pair a dish of their choosing with the wagyu they did not disappoint preparing an off menu roll that was amazing. I enjoyed the seaweed salad, baby octopus, and desert I let them pick. I've left a very happy customer as well as feeling respected as a customer after the manager shook my hand and thanked me for coming. 5 dishes (one of which was A-5 wagyu steak) for $60.00 is great pricing in my book. Will definitely recommend.Kid-friendliness: Definitely felt welcome and respected.
