The food is not worth the price. The only thing worth it is the shrimp fried rice, but even that is lacking flavor.
The lo mein isn’t horrible, I just wish it had vegetables in addition to the protein of choice.
The beef & broccoli is actually horrible. It tasted almost like cornstarch. There was zero flavor.
So overall, I wouldn’t recommend. They consistently have a crowd so they must be doing something right. I just wish the food had more flavor and tasted better than does.
Beautiful, up to date, clean and traditional is how I would describe the dining room. There is a lovely little stream that flows just outside the floor to ceiling windows. The food is excellent with big but not excessive portions. Good vegetarian selection.

We really love the atmosphere and decor of Jimmy Chiu. We love the fact that when you enter the restaurant, they greet you very well and very professionally. I don’t recall ever having to wait on a table because we basically come at lunchtime.
Let me tell you the food is excellent and spot on. Every meal that we’ve had has been good. The menu is priced reasonable for the customer. I’m not sure how they do it but that food has been tasty and they are good portions every time we dine here. The waiters and staff give exceptional service to their customers. They tend to their every needs.
I want to thank this restaurant for being a good place to stop in at lunchtime after visiting Johns Hopkins dealing with cancer. Sitting here in your restaurant and having a good food is really a comforting thing to have when you’re Dealing with an illness. So thank Jimmy Chiu for giving us really great meals and excellent customer service.

We’ve been going to Joey Chiu’s off and on for almost 25 years. Food and staff have always been excellent. Things changed with Covid. No doubt most restaurants struggled during this time. The food became very expensive. We stopped going for a while. When we returned we noticed the restaurant staff was different. Definitely not as friendly. Last night we carried out General Tso Chicken and Vegetable Lo Mein. It was awful. The chicken was completely overcooked and rubbery and the vegetable lo mein had absolutely NO flavor. Such a terrible disappointment for us. We will no longer patronize this restaurant.

March 2025, after dining at a Baltimore Seafood restaurant (True Chesapeake), we were still hungry. So we tried Joey Chiu's, a chinese restaurant that was on our list for a quick takeout. It's located at the end of Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) right past 695 in a very quaint area where a creek runs parallel to the restaurant. We wanted a drink while waiting for our carryout, but the bar area was packed with an older local crowd. So, after ordering, we sat in the 🚗 for 10 minutes for the two dishes that came to $37, which I believe is a little above the average price. Our normal carryout Chinese restaurant is in Ellicott City, so this was probably a one and done for us. Good service, polite crowd, plenty of free parking but the restaurant interior seemed dated and the food was bland. 3+ star rating.

It was a great experience; the food and service were excellent.
I ordered BBQ Ribs and 1/2 Peking Duck for carryout.
The ribs were rubbery, undercooked and had no sauce. They were inedible.
The Peking Duck skin should have been crispy was rubbery as well.
The place gives the appearance of an upscale restaurant but serves sub par food.
Other dishes I've had in the past such as their eggplant were gloppy and unappealing too.
I will not be returning.
We were there for a high school reunion. The food was served family style. They were sensitive to my shellfish allergy and carefully told me what dishes I needed to avoid. There was a shrimp dish I couldn't have, but I noted the shrimp were really large. The Genrral Tso's chicken dish had generous sized chicken pieces that were lightly breaded and moist and tender. The beef and vegetable dish was tasty and the meat is melt in your mouth tender. We had a couple of vegetarians that had no problem getting enough to eat. There was a green bean dish that I'd love to have a recipe for, a vegetable fried rice, and a vegetable lo mein. They also provided appetizers. One was a huge egg roll with shrimp and chicken. The other was beef ribs. They brought out vegetable spring rolls for the vegetarians. There was a dessert table with a lovely selection of cookies, lemon bars, and fresh fruit. At the end, they brought containers out for us to take leftovers home. The only thing I thought was a little strange was no Decaf beverages other than water. We had a beautiful view out the window of a garden area with running water. Our water glasses were constantly replenished. It was a great experience all around
