March 2025, after dining at a Baltimore Seafood restaurant (True Chesapeake), we were still hungry. So we tried Joey Chiu's, a chinese restaurant that was on our list for a quick takeout. It's located at the end of Jones Falls Expressway (I-83) right past 695 in a very quaint area where a creek runs parallel to the restaurant. We wanted a drink while waiting for our carryout, but the bar area was packed with an older local crowd. So, after ordering, we sat in the 🚗 for 10 minutes for the two dishes that came to $37, which I believe is a little above the average price. Our normal carryout Chinese restaurant is in Ellicott City, so this was probably a one and done for us. Good service, polite crowd, plenty of free parking but the restaurant interior seemed dated and the food was bland. 3+ star rating.
Food is good… very disappointed they no longer serve shrimp egg fu young 🥲
It was a great experience; the food and service were excellent.
I ordered BBQ Ribs and 1/2 Peking Duck for carryout.
The ribs were rubbery, undercooked and had no sauce. They were inedible.
The Peking Duck skin should have been crispy was rubbery as well.
The place gives the appearance of an upscale restaurant but serves sub par food.
Other dishes I've had in the past such as their eggplant were gloppy and unappealing too.
I will not be returning.
We were there for a high school reunion. The food was served family style. They were sensitive to my shellfish allergy and carefully told me what dishes I needed to avoid. There was a shrimp dish I couldn't have, but I noted the shrimp were really large. The Genrral Tso's chicken dish had generous sized chicken pieces that were lightly breaded and moist and tender. The beef and vegetable dish was tasty and the meat is melt in your mouth tender. We had a couple of vegetarians that had no problem getting enough to eat. There was a green bean dish that I'd love to have a recipe for, a vegetable fried rice, and a vegetable lo mein. They also provided appetizers. One was a huge egg roll with shrimp and chicken. The other was beef ribs. They brought out vegetable spring rolls for the vegetarians. There was a dessert table with a lovely selection of cookies, lemon bars, and fresh fruit. At the end, they brought containers out for us to take leftovers home. The only thing I thought was a little strange was no Decaf beverages other than water. We had a beautiful view out the window of a garden area with running water. Our water glasses were constantly replenished. It was a great experience all around

Very cool restaurant. Amazingly busy. Food is great if you are okay to wait 20 minutes to grab attention from the waiting staff to start your service.

Wasn't overly fond of either dish I got (sesame chicken and ahi tuna).

During my most recent visit everything was going so well until it was time to pay the bill. After spending almost $100 on food and drinks, the waiter was standing over my shoulder as I paid and questioned the amount of tip I was giving. My family and I have visited this restaurant ALOT of times and today was so distasteful that I do not wish to return. I completely understand that people should get paid what they are worth but that is not my job, ask for a raise! That server does not know my financial situation on what I could give and quite honestly I did not have to give anything.
I highly recommend that the staff gets coaching in sensitively!

If you have Health Issues its because of places like this. Fried Food and Food Cooked In Seed Oils is Toxic for the Body, Leads to Chronic Inflammation and other Health Issues. When in Doubt Order Grilled Food without the Sauce and Steam Vegetables. Nice Americanized Chinese cuisine in a very accessible location. Service was abundant and attentive deposits also catering to a birthday party, a Ravens game crowd, and indoor+outdoor patrons. Water glass was topped off every time someone passed by. Food options were excellent and varied including lots for veggie and meat lover alike. Consistently good dishes. Oddly also served sushi, but we didn’t try any as that seemed like pandering to the ignorant.
Vegetarian options: They had a lovely mapo tofu without meat and without sauce that use anchovy sauce or meat broth of some sort.

Looking for a Chinese style sit in restaurant this one could be for you. Nestled in the back of Greenspring station there is plenty of parking. No reservations needed. Upon entry you are greeted and seated quickly. The menu is full of all your favorites and more. The fried rice is a go to, the small (pictured)could feed 2 people. I also got the General Tso Shrimp, and the Crabmeat Wonton all delish. If in the area try them out .
