Black Flag Social House

Had lunch today with my brother. Crabcake was mediocre at best. Crab pizza was dry not enough sauce or taste. Cold beer was excellent.Overall I was disappointed with the food. Service was fair. I think we had a new employee wait on us. Very nice atmosphere and not crowded at lunchtime. At least I had a nice meal with a family member. It was nice to catch up. I may comeback sometime but not soon.

I got the Black Flag burger, but when I saw the chicken plank plate delivered to someone else at my table, I knew I had made the wrong decision. The pizzas look a little overcooked to me.

Our first visit. I had the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. It's worthy of the name. Spicy, messy and delicious. My scalp sweated. My wife's gluten free pizza was good too, but the bottom could be a little more crispy. Great beer, friendly staff and the outdoor space looks good.

Very good food and a solid selection of beers. I tried a sour and a stout while I was there and wasn't disappointed at all. They do samples if you are unsure of something. The black flag burger was delicious and definitely one of the better burgers I have had. If you don't mind spending a few extra dollars this place is totally worth the visit.

We enjoyed the pretzel, but the pizza did not seem up to par. Too few toppings, and the thin crust seemed excessively soft in the middle of the pizza. The wings were good. Also, I like the Black Flag beers, especially the Mage stout offerings.

The wings are passable and the pretzel was good. The pizza, however, needs to go back to the drawing board. The crust is completely un-inspired. In fact, if it is not a prepackaged crust, it is trying so hard to imitate one that it overachieves. In fact, it is possibly the worst I have had in a decade. There is a cheese blend topping that faintly tastes of separated cheese. On the "carnivore" selection, there were exactly two pieces per slice of the smallest pepperoni available. We could not find the bacon, and the sausage was unevenly disbursed by slice from very little to almost none. Othe than a very crisp edge, the dough had no structure. With the brick oven they have, this is a shame.

The salvation is the Black flag beer selection. It appears that they have also added a few lagers, since this is paired with food. This is refreshing, since the Columbia location has been enchanted with endless sweet bear which has become un-inviting. We have been visiting Black Flag for more than 7 years.

Black Flag Social House has very delicious food and drinks. The sandwiches are exceptional and the pizzas are very good as well. I greatly enjoy that you can pick different sauces to go with your fries, however, when it first opened you could get these complementary which changed. My only complaint would be that they need to start allowing for online or phone reservations. There is always a line which shows demand but it also makes people stay away if they don’t want to wait when there could even be no line just because they assume there may be one. Reservations would allow the restaurant to predict rushes and time tables better as well. I hope they consider adding this feature. Regardless I will be back for sure!
