Paper Lantern Asian Grill & Sushi

I was really looking forward to dining here again because the place has great reviews and my family had a good experience on our previous visit. Unfortunately, this recent visit was a huge disappointment. While the staff member who seated us was polite, the server—an older woman—was shockingly rude to me, my wife, and our kids. At first, I thought maybe she was having a bad day, but she was laughing and giving attention to other tables, which made her behavior toward us even more unacceptable.
As someone who owns two businesses, including a restaurant, I understand the importance of good service, and I rarely leave negative reviews. But no one deserves to be treated the way we were. Another staff member even offered to take over serving us, but by then, we were so disappointed that we decided to leave. The polite staff member apologized sincerely, but the rude server stormed off with an attitude.
I hope the management addresses this issue because it completely ruined what should have been a pleasant meal.

First, I want to say I am one who hates to leave bad reviews, but as a business owner myself, I know the importance of it. That being said, this was my second time at Paper Lantern. My family and I were treated very poorly by a waitress, who was also very nice to other tables. We were seated by a very nice gentleman. After that, we waited about 15 minutes and were greeted with a waitress. Not with a hello or anything, but a rude “what do you want to drink” my daughter then asked if they had strawberry lemonade. Again very rudely, “no we don’t have that” while just looking at her note pad. She then ordered a sprite and we ordered our remaining drinks. Received them and that’s it. We noticed she was going to other tables smiling, laughing, and being friendly. About 15 minutes pass again and she comes back to our table again with zero personality and says “what you want to order” My husband proceeds to order honey sesame chicken and asks if he’s able to get half lo mein and rice with an upcharge being fine. She says “no we can’t do that.” So he asked for the lo mein with a small rice on the side. She said “So, chicken and rice” He says “No I would like the chicken with the lo mein and a small order of rice on the side.” Again “no we can’t do that.” No explanation, no accommodation, nothing. He politely said “I feel like you’re rushing me. I’m trying to ask a questions to better understand and you’re rushing me.” She then rolled her eyes and said “What do you want me to do” At that point I spoke up and said we will take the check and that we no longer want food. She said no it’s ok and stormed off. The original man who seated us was very kind and did offer help and to serve us but we said no thank you. I understand people have bad days in service, but this was unacceptable. We did nothing to be treated that way while other tables were treated with kindness. My family and I will never patronize this business again.

Good food. Quickly prepared. Tasty & savory. Cost effective. Big portions. Bunch of leftovers for next day. I recommend the fish with black beans sauce and the Singapore noodles. One negative is that they don't have as many green veggies in their dishes such as Chinese broccoli and yuchoi. But overall, good food and good price 👍

We brought our 4 picky eaters here for a family dinner and everyone left full and happy. The service was wonderful, everything we ordered was delicious. We ate pork wonton soup, a sushi roll, crispy beef, broccoli beef and the fish with black bean sauce. Highly recommend for dine in or take out. It’s great!

Sushi was great! However, the non-sushi items were mediocre at best. Ordered pad Thai and kung pao. I probably wouldn’t go back

I wanted to make sure the food was still the same. It's been some years since I dined there so I played ot aafw with Shrimp Fried Rice. It was piping hot and delicious! Plenty of shrimp though I could have had more veggies. Not too much soy sauce. I was pleasantly surprised!

Great location, great selection, and gluten friendly if you have a date with someone who has Celiac's.

Fantasic. The best won ton soup I've had in years. The lunch specials are a great deal. Fairly priced and enough for sharing or having leftovers for the next day.

Got the beef and broccoli lunch plate; generous portions and came w/ soup + egg roll for about $15. Tasty meal, good service and nice atmosphere make The Paper Lantern a solid choice to eat Chinese food.

Great tasting food and fast serving service. I’ve never sat down and ate So I can’t comment on that part but still gave 4 stars based on how it looks inside.
