In terms of vegan fare, it's certainly passable for the pricepoint. The portion sizes are above decent...but it does not meet the bar set by other vegan soul food places that do it better in my opinion (Healthful Essence in Southwest Atlanta, SoulVegan in NoLa). For DC, it's relatively an okay vegan spot.
It has the aesthetic of fast casual, but includes a wait that makes one want something more by the end.

I had my order through Ubereats. I did pay for extra portion so I hope I got that. I had 5 drummies, sweet kale and seafood mac n cheese. As a southerner I'd prefer the Mac n Cheese to be more creamier than hearty but it was decent. The food was good however. I love vegan chicken and I'm a sucker for good kale so they both hit the mark. I also ordered blueberry lemon cake but only got a lemon. Tad bit disappointing but I won't bash a black business. Thanks for being prompt with my order and delivery

Beyond disappointed in the customer service here. We ordered twice from Dodah’s. The first time, the order arrived with a dish missing ($20+). When we reached out to Dodah’s, they blamed it on DoorDash though DoorDash picked up what was given to them. That was rough but the food was good so we dealt with the missing dish and $20+ we lost.

However, yesterday, we ordered again. Not only was an entire dish (again $20+) missing, but a side in the entree we received was missing. We attempted to call the restaurant - no answer. We then emailed - no answer.

Extremely unprofessional and no matter the quality of their food, this was absolutely unacceptable.

The food was trash. Lasagna was dry and stale. You can tell it’s been siting out for a while. It might even be leftovers from a prior day. The food lacks flavor for it to be labeled as soul food. I used to get this mushroom sandwich from a vegan restaurant called Mush DC. They are now closed. I tried to see if I could find a replacement, but was sadly disappointed in the lack of flavor and portion size of the fried mushroom sandwich offered at Dodah’s. I wish Sweet & Natural restaurant was still around. They had some of the best vegan food in the area.

Came once and liked it. Came back for lunch today, Friday, at 11:30. CLOSED, inside is dark. Even tho googl says open? If I'm in the area I might give them another shot one day

I've tried both locations, the District Heights, MD and Mt. Rainer, MD. The food is awful!!! Please don't ever order on Uber Eats to deliver your order because Dodah Kitchen will give you the old food, the ver bottom of the pot, I received nothing but stem greens. I will not come back to this nasty food again. It's not worth it, don't waste your time or money.

I use to come here almost everyday when they first opened, now it’s more like once per month. The food is either hit or miss. I decided to give them a try again and it was horrible. I wanted the cauliflower… it was on display, but burnt. A time before that I bought a seamoss drink and immediately had to return it because when I opened it, the smell was atrocious… please never smell bad seamoss, the smell stays with you. With all that being said, I will not be returning to Dodah’s

I really don’t like having to give a negative review for vegan places, because they already get a bad wrap.. BUT, unfortunately… here we are…
I’ve been plant based for close to 20 years ..soo, I know what I’m talking about…

I was sooo excited that this place was up the road from my school, and thought perhaps I had found a new lunch spot!

NOPE! 👎…

First off ,the building isn’t clearly visible.. at least I didn’t think so.
Secondly, the lay out isn’t ideal..
thirdly, and most importantly… the food…
It was around 4:15pm ish… and some of the food looked like it was still from the lunch rush, and some stuff looked to have just been “topped “ off.. 🤔😒..

I ordered the 1 entree + 2 sides. Chose the “general taso cauliflower (didn’t come over rice), and the collard greens and vegan Mac n cheese…

The cauliflower tasted like it was more along the lines of “traditional Orange chicken “ with hints of sweetness NOT GENERAL taso, which should be spicy. Very disappointing. Also, it wasn’t crispy.. because it was already tossed in the sauce and sitting on a hot line…😒😒😒..

The collard greens were the most disappointing part… even more so than getting a sweet dish when i wanted some spicy notes. They tasted over cooked (mushy) and to make it worst, it tasted like the top layer of the green was cold.. because it was over the fill line and not being properly hot held. After 2 bites, I couldn’t take, I threw those greens out my car window for the birds to eat.😒

And lastly, the mac n cheese was very basic but it was the most enjoyable part of the meal.

And everything was cold (not freezing cold) but not piping hot like it should.

Needless to say, unless it’s to try something from their cold well or the pies/cakes.. I don’t foresee myself paying another $17 for a 1 entree 2/sides from them, NEVER AGAIN! 😒😒😒

The last picture is what I ended up not finishing and choosing to throw away because there was no point to save it.. soo, if I could quantify it, I only ate about 30% of the meal. The rest… 🗑️😒

Went there this past weekend and tried them for the first time!!! Was greeted soon as I walked in. A tough bag lady that was waiting for her order said I had to try the seafood Mac and cheese and she wasn’t wrong. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 The good brother running the store also let me try a few other sides. All were amazing so I had to choose but I wanted to try all of them. I got the vegan drumettes, with the vegan ribs, seafood Mac and cheese and the collard greens. All tasted AMAZING!!!! I also ordered the mint tea and the ginger tea. Amazing. This was the Newark, De location on Main Street. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks for hospitality and the great food.

Will not be ordering from the MD - District Heights location again. Ordered Mac/cheese and they didn’t have any. Order candied yams and didn’t receive. They sent kale salad instead.

Ordered via Uber Eats and literally everything was terrible — the Mac and cheese, lasagna, mushrooms, drinks, and sandwich. Even the fries were soggy. PLEASE do better. 🙏🏿 We need good vegan restaurants. Please use this review as feedback to do BETTER.
