The food and service is great. I got the gumbo and it was so good but way too greasy. I would get it again if they fix that. - went here on Saturday, it wasn’t busy at all.

Quaint little neighborhood spot with a small indoor seating area of around 30 and nice outdoor seating area as well. Food and service are excellent!!

After years of anticipation, we finally dined at Pennyroyal—and we’re left wondering why we waited so long. The culinary experience was exceptional, with each dish thoughtfully prepared and bursting with flavor. The cocktails were impeccably crafted, striking a perfect balance. A standout highlight: their happy hour features a remarkably priced $10 Old Fashioned, a rare find in today’s dining scene.

One of my favorite restaurants in the DMV, with REAL mixologists. Food and service are always top tier.

While the food and music was great, the service was terrible. We didn’t feel welcome and the waiters only came when called them. They never checked on us or came to the table. Didn’t feel appreciated for our business. Will not be back.

I do not recommend. I came here with my husband and son. When I entered I saw the beautiful espresso machine which excited me because I love coffee and teas! We were seated and had a “drink” and food menu. The drink menu was only alcoholic drinks and sodas so I asked the waiter if there was a drink menu for coffee and teas. Her response was “no there is no menu, you can just order any coffee or tea”. This was baffling because yea I could order a latte or espresso but some places have specialty coffees or teas and even if they didn’t, it would still be nice to have a menu so I could know the prices of coffees/teas! Ok moving on to the food. I ordered the “steak” and eggs. Why say steak and eggs and it’s actually roast beef! Also it was suppose to come with hash browns and to my surprise it was served on a hashbrown “patty” that tasted nothing like hashbrowns or even potatoes! The eggs were the only thing that were ok from what I ordered. My husband ordered a burger and he enjoyed it. The pancake was just ok. The service was terrible. She NEVER came and asked how we were enjoying our meal.

Pennroyal is the classy neighborhood spot that you need in your life. The music was subtle in the background, but top-tier! The food was simply delicious, clean, tasty, and well done. The prices were palatable and not too crazy. Excluding the owner's hands on touch with white glove treatmenat, the service was good. But, the wait staff has a little room for growth with service etiquette. This place definitely has a good, chill vibe.
A cool spot, low key..very laid back. Enjoy try it out...

I finally got around to checking them out and they did not disappoint. Maybe five minutes after we were seated a steady stream of people started arriving so you could tell it is a neighborhood favorite. We started out by ordering a combo and the mac and cheese with brisket and bone marrow. The price of the combo is excellent and that mac and cheese...that mac and cheese is a must order. I got the fried chicken sandwich and my friend ordered the chicken pot pie. Both were excellent. The sandwich was crispy and moist, but not over cooked, and the chicken pot pie was like a warm hug on a cold day. The staff was personable and attentive. All in all this was a good experience. I recommend you check them out.

I feel like you can't really go wrong with this quant little gem that offers beautiful decor and friendly customer service. The food good though I have had some items that weren't AMAZING, but good. Brunch and dinner have both served me well! It's a go grab for me!

Went here for Sunday brunch and had a great time! Even though it was busy, we got seated pretty quickly, which was nice. There's a good amount of street parking nearby, so getting there was easy.
The staff were super friendly, and the food and drinks were on point. The whole place has a chill, lowkey vibe that I really liked.
The decor stood out--super fun and eclectic, which made the atmosphere even better. They also have outdoor seating, so I'll have to check that out next time.
Definitely a cute local brunch spot. I'm excited to come back and try more of the menu!

Quaint restaurant with great atmosphere. Loved the Chicken Pancakes 🥞. Just enough maple syrup. Chicken was well seasoned and crunchy. Perfect for me! Will come again. Not used to smaller portions but I must say it was actually just what I needed. Bottomless peach 🍑 mimosas were a great addition to my meal. Thank you for sharing your recipes with us.
