A charming place, out of the way, with great homemade dinners and desserts. We will go again and again. But make reservations. They are only open a few hours on Friday and Saturday. Smiles.

This place was a random find driving through from assateague to chincoteague, but thankful we found it! They sat us quickly, food was delicious and reminded me of my Nana’s cooking. If we ever came back to this area we would eat here again!

Had a great time with great food great service great
A perfect spot for a Virginia Shore family meal. We stumbled upon it (thank you Google maps) and took the side road to get to this "locals only" , with local dishes: the crab cake was TO DIE FOR- a nice add-on to any entrée. Friendly service. Across from a historic railroad museum that will delight those who love "choo-choos" (my grandbaby, Flossie ;-)3 stars on atmosphere because we had to walk our family through a dense cloud of cigarette smoke to enter as the front porch is the smoking section. It WAS rainy, so maybe there were more smokers than usual. Fact is, we were visiting Virgina, a Commonwealth that has a long history of benefit from the tobacco industry. So when in Rome. . .Bathrooms were clean, country decor in a historic building with a clean partially open kitchen.

Can’t say enough about Barberlys. Janice and the staff are so welcoming and accommodating. The food, home cooking at its best. As many times as we have been here, I have tried many different things and haven’t found anything yet that I did not like. So I am going to continue my quest to find out what more tasty morsels they have to offer. Their desserts are to die for.As for the wait, sure if you don’t have reservations there is a wait. But to tell you the truth, it’s definitely worth the wait.Sometimes I wonder if I want to spread the word about our “date night” place, because then I would never be able to visit because they are only open Fridays and Saturdays. Maybe I should give them a bad review so I can keep this gem all to myself! Great place and Love to our host Janice and her family!

The pork chops were dry and the lemon meringue pie tasted like flavorless gelatin. The atmosphere was cluttered, not quaint, like some hoarders garage.
