We have dined at PSI many times since it opened 40 years ago. Last night's experience was truly memorable for great drinks, food and service. We enjoyed everything from start to finish. Our server was so friendly and knowledgeable. He made it a great evening.
What you would expect from such an institution. Everything was high class, relaxed, and wonderful.
The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was amazing. Always a great meal and experience.
Waited almost 30 minutes past reservation time along with several other couples who were sent to a service bar in the lower level. 8:15 reservation and didnt sit until almost 9. Once we were seated we we were subjected to a drunken table of 6 people who were clearly over 65 years old screeching and babbling drunkenly and basically ruining everyone in the rooms valentine's celebration. The best part of the show was watching the female ring leader get up to finally leave and stumble every 2 feet and almost crash into the host station. Then the other two couples got up and the husband's had to practically hold their wives up. Embarrassing and intrusive. Food was good but very overpriced. Drinks were good but overpriced. Service and server were excellent, as was the server in the service bar. Very elegant setting to watch 6 grownups act like drunken college kids (no offense to college kids). If I could do it over again I would just go hang out on the lower level and have a few drinks by the fire place and not eat.
Excellent in every category. A little expensive but that is expected for the excellent quality in all categories. We especially liked the piano playing.
We were there on Thursday 12/11/25. We stayed at the inn and walked downstairs to enjoy the festive Christmas atmosphere at the restaurant including music, decorations , and happy diners. We chose the prix fixe menu and both had the autumn spiced pork tenderloin. Everything was perfect including the cook on the pork ( mid rare), candied bacon, broccolini, and the cheddar grits. Each bite was better than the first. We were fortunate to have Jennifer as our server since her insight and recommendations added to the dining experience. Besides that she is just very efficient, knowledgeable, and a very nice person---so happy to have met her! Our first course was the caesar salad (maybe the best we ever had) which was not over dressed--the hidden secret of a good salad. I finished with a creme brulee and my wife had the peanut butter and jelly chocolate cake ( her favorite part was the strawberry ice cream). We each thoroughly enjoyed our tasty desserts. Oh yes, how could I forget, the Figenza mule cocktails---so good. Merry Christmas Peter Shields!
Excellent service by Jennifer. Shrimp Bisque addition was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The blackened Tuna entree was perfect. Deviled eggs great. Very nice dinner. Thank you!!
Delicious food and great service. Very nice for a special occasion dinner with my wife. We were very pleased with our evening and will return.
You can't visit Cape May without a Peter Shield's restaurant experience. Always a great part of the day!
Peter Shields Inn is a remarkable restaurant with attention to detail, culinary choices, service and hospitality! The Lobster Risotto was amazing and the Halibut was cooked to perfection inside parchment paper which was a first for me. We had the wasabi deviled eggs and was pleasantly surprised that the flavor was not spicy at all which was a Win, Win for our guests. Also ordered the Burrata with figs which was amazingly flavorful. Our server, Amy was politely attentive and extremely informative about the food and her expertise of how everything was prepared. I loved this entire experience and would definitely go back again soon!

Food was great. Service was great. Is definately on the pricey side. This was my 2nd time at PSI being seated in the room that looks like a converted porch and it is freezing in there! They really need to insulate better.
I think Peter Shields is going to become an anniversary tradition for my husband and me. Every part of our experience was incredible, from our pre-dinner cocktails in the lounge to dessert, every aspect was phenomenal. Even the pianist who went out of his way to find our first dance song to play for us. Our waitress was so sweet and took the best care of us. And the food was out of this world. Chef Keith is wildly talented and it shows. If they have the sticky toffee pudding, make sure you try it. We will absolutely be back!
Fantastic food, fantastic service, fantastic ambiance. As a frequent diner at this restaurant, I am always blown away by Peter Shields. 10/10 PS: the server Chris M. Is the absolute best!
Chris was the best server. They were also very accommodating moving our table because of the noise level. Food was great. Impeccable service. I miss the pate before dinner as I've been coming here for years. Champagne for our anniversary was a very nice touch.
Another fantastic dinner at PSI. Our first visit since they obtained the liquor license, some great wines to choose from and reasonably priced. Looking forward to our next visit.
