This place is amazing. Definitely a gem. We went down to OC for the weekend and when looking for a breakfast spot we googled best bfast in OC and the surfside rooster came up. Google was definitely correct. Its a small family place with friendly staff and awesome food. We will be back. The reviews that are negative mostly relate to wait times....we didn't have to wait but we certainly will if we have to. Highly recommend.

My biggest issue with this place is they say Nashville hot chicken but it’s a plain chicken breast pan fried. There was absolutely no heat and barely any seasoning. Other than that the food is high quality with proper portions. It’s a busy spot so service may take a minute. I would definitely recommend this place a try.

My wife and I stayed in West OC for the weekend and went here twice for breakfast. We couldn’t be happier with our selections from the Cheesesteak omelette, to the breakfast sandwich (the breakfast biscuit was amazing), to the bananas foster cinnamon roll. Highly recommend.

The food was delicious I have zero complaints. The bananas foster croissant cinnamon roll was my absolute favorite. I went with friends the weekend to country calling and service was fast, staff was friendly and the food was phenomenal. I live about two hours away but I’ll travel for good food. It’s family friendly as well. The server held my appetizer under the warmer because I didn’t communicate I wanted everything together I have never had anyone offer to that at a restaurant she was so sweet. The food smelled so good we chowed down before taking pictures I will be back for sure.

The farmer's skillet is something I've dreamed of having but didn't know could be done. It defies the laws of physics, gravity, and the Geneva Convention. I am in love.
The rooster and waffle special is not just chicken and waffles. It's a religious experience bathed in Jalapeno Maple Syrup, brewed in house.
Every single moment was outdone by the next. And for this place to be packed, the staff was ON IT. Rem was so sweet, attentive, and every staff member not only checked on us, but raved about the food and was so happy we came.
Surfside Rooster is a Mecca if you are a looking for the best food you could conjure. Make time to stop here 🙏🙏🙏

I cannot say enough about this place! The owner Jeff is just amazing and his staff make you feel so welcome, these ladies had us cracking up! Everything we ordered was top notch. The Surfing Benny is a must and they cooked the eggs perfect! . I definitely suggest getting the biscuits 😍

Let me start by saying, this is not the worst breakfast place. However I feel the high reviews are a little misleading, and the 45min-1 hour wait is excessive for the food we had. I spend a lot of time researching when vacationing, and this had to be one of my biggest disappointments. I would say this is a 3.5 star diner, imo. Part of it was the excessive wait and perhaps being unfortunately sat near the bar area which had some loud drunks for 130 in the afternoon. Sounds like the drinks were good I guess. My boyfriend got the stuffed blueberry French toast which was good. I was not a fan of my seafood benedict tbh, mostly because it wasn't at all warm. It might have just been a bad day, idk. I don't mind waiting or paying a good amount, if the food is good and if my time feels well spent. I did not feel that way leaving here today. Had a much better breakfast elsewhere yesterday, which was just as busy but perhaps more used to the crowd.
Edited to say, the wait for the table was one thing and the wait for the food was another. Kitchen must have been popping because it took quite a bit for our food on top of it.
