Betty Lou’s is a beautiful place with great service. The food however is just ok. It’s good but everything I’ve tried is very bland. I got the chicken and biscuit sandwich most recently and while the jam on it did help with flavor, the chicken itself was bland and unseasoned. It was devoid of flavor. My mother got the chicken pot pie which wasn’t bad but also lacked flavor. It’s like so many items are soo close to being amazing but are falling short due to a lack of enough seasoning and flavor. I’ve tried quite a few menu items and all of them are bland and miss the mark. Please please rework some of these items and add more flavor!

We thoroughly enjoyed Betty Lou’s from start to finish! The ambiance is homey and warm and the staff were great. The food was some of the best I’ve had in a restaurant! I had the braised short ribs and my husband had the fried catfish. Both were top notch quality and wonderful flavors! You must try the bread pudding it had apples in it as was out of this world.

Exceptional Cajun cuisine with serving portions to match. My son and I will not have to return to New Orleans to enjoy Cajun cuisine that is absolutely delicious 👍

No problems with service, and its a nice quaint place, but be aware about the price-quantity ratio. A 23 dollar pot pie should have more stuff in it than a one dollar frozen one. The crust was quite good, but there was almost nothing inside it. The buffalo jerk cauliflower that was maybe 5oz for 15 dollars. Barely enough to share between two people. We left hungry.

my wife, mother-in-law and I came to dinner tonight, Jenny and dave were our servers. They were excellent, fast and efficient. I had a short ribs with the cream, corn and collard greens, which were excellent, my wife had the meatloaf with fries and cream corn on another great dish and my mother-in-law had the fish and chip special which also was very good. Appetizers were barbecue shrimp and the bread plate both very good as well. Overall experience was excellent. We have been there a few times before with the same results. Betty lous is always consistent.
Highly recommended ir!

Definitely had higher expectations based on the reviews. Very cozy vibe and ambience - their playlist was full of pleasant, warm, and understated classics that really enhanced the atmosphere. Food was just okay though. The pork chops were under salted and the meatloaf was on the dryer side, the gravy was congealed but had good flavor. Nothing tasted bad, but it wasn't amazing either. And again, based on the very high reviews and minimal menu, I expected this to be a place that hit it out of the park on all levels especially when it came to the food. I would've easily gotten a dessert had there been a chocolate option - seems like an obvious upsell opportunity to me. Had a nice experience overall just wasn't the high quality food experience I was anticipating it to be!

Shout out to Betty Lou’s!
My wife and I stopped by on a whim lookin’ for something new- and Betty Lou’s DID NOT disappoint.
Tucked away on the backside of Lake Shore (old Mutany) is Betty Lou’s. A place that is full of that southern cuisine and charm with a Sweet Magnolia vibe. Meredith the owner was very welcoming along with great service by Jessica behind the bar.
With a great beer selection and cocktails, it’s definitely a place you can have an afternoon meal, or an evening date night.
Recommendation:
- Fried Chicken Deviled Eggs
- Beef Pot Pie
- Mac + Cheese

Betty Lou's is hitting the ground running as one of the best restaurants in Anne Arundel County. A cohesive menu, interior design, and serviceware are matched with legitimate chops in the kitchen and behind the bar. We are lucky to have this new gem in the area.

The Cabernet is delicious. The chicken pot pie was very good and a huge portion, brought some home. Hubby had shrimp and grits that were very good too.

It's expensive, but the chicken pot pie was simply delicious. It's sizable, but at 26$ a pop, it's the second time I've bought it. Plenty of chicken and the best crust. Rivals my grandmother's pies. Buttery and warm.
Delicious
Then I also got a smores mousse. Yummy as the pie, but for 8$, it was soooo tiny.
