We were trying this place out because we were checking out local places to find a good one to cater a small upcoming gathering. We ordered 8 fried chicken wings and 2 pieces of lake trout. Neither was fresh. The chicken was dark at the bone, dry, had a rank taste, and seemed like extra seasoning/salt was applied before cooking to ATTEMPT to disguise the old taste. The fish was dry and unfresh, and from reading another review, it was very likely whiting rather than lake trout. The wait, after ordering online, was about 30 minutes, 10 minutes more than indicated after order was placed. Well, $36 including tax and tip, was wasted, and we know that we won't be ordering from here again. Looks like the reviews from a few years ago were much better, evidently there was a change in ownership since then. They need to get on the ball... or not. We cannot, in good faith, recommend Mawa Chik'n Box as a good place to get chicken wings or lake trout, at least. A couple of good things were that the gentleman at the counter was very courteous, and the decor was cozy.

Horrible place! Food was overcooked and dried out. I asked for party wings with extra lemon pepper, I didn’t even taste no lemon pepper at all. And to make it worse, they charged me $30 for 10 piece and 1 piece of fish, smh. I do not recommend this place by any means

Quality of food has continued to go down. Taste is the not the same and the half n half’s aren’t good. Last time I went they served me inedible chicken, weird smell and the meat was pink & the other piece was abnormally brown in color.

I Ordered a lake trout with Western fries. Upon receiving my order I noticed I had been given Whiting. I confronted the men behind the counter they told my they only sell it on Monday. I feel like you should let a customer know that before accepting there money. Also I’ve ordered it before on a non Monday and they have a special advertisement for a Friday special. I don’t plan on returning, due to lack of integrity.

I don’t know what all the hype is about. I got a chicken box and mozzarella sticks. I asked for crispy and fried hard because I seen a few ppl saying that the wings were not cooked enough for them. There was no seasoning or flavor and it looked like they needed to change the grease. Hot sauce was nasty. The mozzarella i already knew were going to be frozen from a company but they gave me like 8 with a super tiny side of sauce. Not even enough and whatever brand they were didn't have the best flavor either.
My order today was awful They were late opening the store; so the food was poor ly prepared. The cheesesteak sandwich was hot but did not have the dressings I requested. I wanted LTM and hot peppers I received a sandwich with steak, a thin slice of tomato and no lettuce or hot peppers or cheese that was visible I also ordered a 6 piece chicken wing combo. The fries were warm, but the chicken was NOT FRESHLY COOKED TODAY. IT WAS REHEATED AND TOUGH TO CHEW. THIS IS MY SECOND VISIT. THE FIRST WAS AWESOME. THIS WAS A WASTE OF MONEY( $26) NO CONDIMENTS OR NAPKINS OR UTENSILS . FOOD IS NOT TO BE REHEATED FROM THE DAY BEFORE AND SERVED AS FRESH. I BELIEVE THAT'S UNLAWFUL I RECOMMEND YOU CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU LEAVE AND NOT BUY UNTIL WELL AFTER NOON WHEN THEY OPEN

Since this place had been under new ownership the quality of the food has went downhill and the price has went up i just thought they were having a bad day the last time I went but this time was even worse I will never come back ever again
