Firehouse Subs Severna Plaza

This Firehouse Subs location has always had great staff and food quality. I love the historical Severna Park (or Boone?) train station mural on the wall.

I saw that Firehouse Subs was offering a free meal for Veterans Day 2025. Although there is not a Firehouse Subs in my area, I decided to take a drive and try out one of their subs. I called the nearest store (Severna Park, Maryland) twice and no one answered. I decided to drive to the store anyway. When I arrived I found that the Veterans Day deal was not the one that I had seen advertised. Instead, it was a buy one get one medium sub deal. Not a big deal, as I would still be getting a free sub, so I ordered a NY Steamer & a Hook & Ladder. The subs only took about 15 minutes to prepare. Unfortunately, although they were delicious, the meat portion on the sub was inadequate. This was in direct contradiction to how the portions are described on the Firehouse Subs website:

People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, we steam our meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of our toasted private-recipe sub rolls.

Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed in Firehouse Subs and will not be returning to this particular store. I will most likely try Firehouse Subs again as the food was delicious.

I love Firehouse Subs. It is my favorite sandwich shop and I have reviewed several over the years, but I'm afraid this may be the last time I spend my money at one. I have stopped at this location a few times because it is the only one between where I am working and the hotel I am staying that is 35 miles away. The time before when I was here and this time, I asked if they would please extra toast my bread (which they have as an option) because I have a way to go before we eat and I do not want the bread to be soggy and unedible. Neither time was my bread extra toasted (it may have been lightly toasted but it was hard to distinguish because the bread was mushy and unedible). This last time, they even talked loudly about me behind the counter (I know this because I was even mentioned by name) and how I have a long way to go and how I come in there all the time. Honestly, I almost just walked out and frankly I should have. It costs approximately $11 each for a medium sub with no chips nor a drink and I can't even eat it nor can my family. The bread is just a soggy mess from the steamed meat. All I asked was that it was extra toasted so it would not do that and I was completely disregarded and in my opinion, mocked.

I'm allergic to ham. Ordered firehouse hero, no ham. They put ham. Halfway through the first half I had an allergic reaction. Luckily I had benadryl and only ate 4 bites before I realized. This business practice is bad. Tried to call and complain but clearly they are busy messing up orders because my call went unanswered. A lawyer is crossing my mind because this isn't just a messed up order. I could be still going to a hospital if this benadryl doesn't work. Then a lawyer will be involved.

My sandwich fell over on the plate a little bit, which really detracted from the whole experience. But otherwise the cashier was nice and the food was an experience. What experience I don’t know, but it was better than Sam’s subs. Sam isn’t a restaurant, he’s a guy I know and he makes terrible subs.

This shop has gone downhill. The amount of pastrami on our sandwiches is about 1/4 of what it used to be a few years ago. My wife and I were discussing it while we were eating and the man that made our sandwich injected himself into our conversation and began to argue with us that he weighed the amount of meat. Very rude of him to argue with us. We are the customers and his attitude wasn't appreciated. We won't be going back.

Person who made my sub said it was hot. It was not nor was it toasted. Used to like this store. Will never go there again. Left whole sandwich there untouched except for one bite. Don’t want to argue with employees.
