We love the food and atmosphere but service can be hit or miss. We usually don’t let rude service bother us too much, but this last visit my husband and I had a 5:30 reservation for our anniversary after canceling previous plans due to illness the week before. On arrival, the hostess said “just so you know, you need to leave by 7:30 for the reservation after you”. We were very taken aback, not that we had planned to stay over 2 hours but to be told we had a time limit on our reservation? We also noticed some rude/awkward interactions with the waitstaff and a couple tables nearby. One table of women got up and left without ordering anything. Perhaps some training on customer service would be helpful (especially when they charge a “love tax” for their staff), because otherwise this place is a gem.

Have been many times with great experiences. Often bring out of towners here. Unfortunately tonight was a bad experience and will likely not return. Made a reservation, was seated and told that our party had an hour to eat and leave. The explanation was because they had other reservations they were expecting. So I guess they're more important than us? Even though we had a reservation. Poor planning. And even worse, poor handling of the situation once brought to further attention. We left without eating. I guess future guests are more important than the ones sitting in front of you.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was beautiful, cozy, and perfect for the holiday season. The restaurant itself has an upscale feel, and the quality of the food really reflects this.
Unfortunately, the service did not match the setting. Our waitress’s attire and behavior felt out of place for such a nice setting. She was wearing a crop top with a visible belly piercing, baggy jeans, and was loudly chewing gum throughout the night and continually hunched over the empty high top chair at our table as she served us.
While the food and ambiance were excellent, the lack of professionalism in the service was distracting and took away from the overall experience.

The Garten in Severna Park is incredible! The German food was unbelievably yummy — every dish was packed with rich flavor and felt so authentically made. We were blown away by how delicious everything tasted.
Their mocktails were excellent, too! Super refreshing, perfectly balanced, and just as fun and crafted as any full cocktail menu.
On top of that, the restaurant itself is beautifully designed. The vibe is cozy, stylish, and welcoming — truly the perfect place to enjoy a great meal.
We can’t wait to come back! Highly recommend The Garten to anyone looking for fantastic food and an amazing dining experience. 🍽️✨

Christina and Michelle worked with me to plan the BEST event for my book club night out. Ladies from my book club came in on a cold Sunday and were treated to wine, cocktails, a bunch of shareable apps and the most out-of-this-world Nutella Biscoff mousse. It was a really wonderful time and I am so grateful to the team at Garten for taking care of the little details so we could all have a break after the stress of Thanksgiving. Cannot recommend enough for a fun evening with a group of 10 to 12 friends.

Great service, amazing food, and awesome vibes. The schnitzel sandwich is a must-have! The cozy farmhouse interior makes it super welcoming, but if you go on a Friday night, the DJ really gets the place going. Can't wait to go back.
Their outdoor heaters are awful. Relay too heavily on reservations, will let larger parties walk out early to protect reservations. Dumb policies, good food though.

My wife and I had the most enjoyable Sunday late afternoon visit here. The staff are so friendly and there are so many delicious menu options. We did the pretzel with boursin cheese and the crispy fried ribs. They were SO GOOD! We loved sitting outside on the chilly afternoon with the heat lamp and they even provided us with blankets. Top off with rose and cider and it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit. We will plan on returning so many more times!

Our server, McKenzie, was an absolute rockstar — friendly, patient, and so great with my kids. The food? OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD. The drinks? Top-tier perfection. And the hostess? Truly an angel on Earth. ❤️
