We were meeting far away friends halfway from our homes and this place met that criteria. We got an experience dining in an historic train station, treated to a procession of railroad equipment being moved to the next duty station and a delicious set of meals. We were a group of friends whose tastes and dietary preferences were disparate and found satisfaction for each of us. This place is now on our go back to list.

I was very disappointed with our visit. The scenery and our server were very nice. However, I ordered a Raspberry Martini and it was awful. I ordered the French onion soup which was ok. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits which was ok, but the cornbread had some kind of medicine taste to it. I ordered the southern fried chicken and it was very bland. I definitely will not be back again.

Located right next to the Patapsco River, the historic (c.1883) Sykesville Station oozes character with much of the unique original architectural features still in place, making it easy to envision what it must have been like here over a century ago. We took some friends of ours for happy hour and one stated that it was one of his top 10 favorite restaurants after only 1 visit. Their happy hour is very nice with $3 domestic pints and a handful of nice appetizers. The corn fritters and Cajun steak bites were very good, and the Old Bay chicken drummies were outstanding again. The atmosphere was so inviting that we were surprised to find we had been there nearly 4 hours. We also met the wonderful informative owner, Kim and we had a very good waitress, Meghan. Skip the sterile corporate chain restaurants and frequent a place with some character and history.

My mother and I arrived and were seated with menus by the hostess at 1:30pm. By 2:00, no one on the wait staff had even asked us what we wanted to drink. We were completely ignored, and the place was almost empty. This was my first trip there, and my last.

slow service. and food so bad we went it back - which i hate doing. the cheese with the (previously frozen tasting) pretzel bites was curdled and burnt tasting - must have been on the stove for days. the grits must have been in the freezer and microwaved. had to send it back too. cute place in the historic downtown service was so bad that we actually eventually left because food was cold by the time the brought mustard and water. sad. it was a local favorite.

The location is very scenic, and the outside seating on a pleasant late summer day was nice. We had a group of 8, and the service was reasonably responsive and pleasant. The sandwich I ordered, a Carolina Cubano, did not meet expectations. The dijon sauce was spread too thickly, and overwhelmed. The various textures and flavors were all mixed up--like the filling was placed in a blender--so that the crunch of the pickles, the sharpness of the cheese, the chewiness of good ham, and even the tanginess of pulled pork were inseperable--and just not tasty. The check, for a soda and a sandwich was over $20. I won't be back.

Eight of us were meeting to celebrate an 80th Birthday. The first hiccup we encountered was parking – the restaurant’s lot was full. Most of our friends had to park some distance away - one jokingly commented he had to park in Eldersburg. The dining room was beyond noisy. Thank goodness, the dining room was not full or it would have been deafening. Our server, Katelyn, was a delight and treasure. We asked if they could please turn down the music, and they did somewhat. The problem with people our age is that we can no longer hear well. As the evening progressed, the room got very hot. A suggestion might be to add some ceiling fans. What we did enjoy was the food. The appetizers we tried were the Crispy Brussel Sprouts, that were cider-glazed and topped with a garlic aioli; 2 full Deviled Eggs, topped with brown sugar bacon jam; and Sweet Corn Fritters that were fried crispy with smoked honey – all were delicious! For our entrees, we had the Station Burger, 2 Bourbon Smoked Brisket sandwiches, Carolina Cubano, Smoked Pulled Pork, Station Caesar, Shrimp and Grits, and a huge Wedge Salad with Grilled Shrimp. Everyone was very pleased with their choices. We ended the evening together on a sweet note, our friend had brought a Rainbow Cake from Santoni’s to celebrate the birthday boy. Katelyn was very attentive to our every need.

Tried this restaurnt for dinner. Error! The chicken salad and the deviled eggs were not good at all. The pretzel bites were only fair. After our experiences with the main courses, we did not want to bother to try desert. The service was likewise only fair. Having said that, the restaurant was quite over-priced. Sadly, this is not someplace I would waste my time or money gong to again.

While the appetizers were very good ( Cajun steak bites, sweet corn fritters, and catfish nuggets), our main course meals were mixed. Our friends liked their BLT dog and Grilled chicken sandwich. My wife had a chicken salad wrap that she only took two bites of. It had dark meat and no mayonnaise, so very much not what she expected. I had the Bourbon smoked Brisket, and it was tasty, but about 1/2 fat. At least the fries were good.

We had a reservation for seven people at 11:00 AM, when they open on a Saturday. We did not get food until 11:45. It was not busy because there were few people there as yet. I ordered a Bloody Mary, and it came with no garnish. The waitress apologized for not knowing I wanted that one and said she’d be right back. She came back and said the bacon wasn’t ready. Were they not prepared for a brunch run? A number of their sandwiches also call for bacon. The bacon came, but no shrimp. Those weren’t ready either. When it came, I did not have the heart to ask about the olives. My eggs were just warm, and the English muffin it was on was cold. My potatoes were over fried and room temperature. My son had the oddest steak with his steak and eggs. It was the size and shape of a lemon. Seriously, it looked like a large piece of stew meat. He also got the same potatoes. We should have sent it back, but the children were very hungry and antsy by that time, and we did not want to prolong this any further.

Took my son (31) and daughter (32) here for my son's birthday. Delicious drinks, and food. Salad with grilled shrimp, shrimp and grits, and a filet. The deviled eggs were DELICIOUS! To top it off, while we were sitting outside, by the tracks, a train went by. Perfect ending to a great day. Very glad we stopped here.

After walking historic Main Street in Sykesville, I needed a pick-me-up, and since I had reached the Patapsco River and the train tracks, it was only natural to stop by the Sykesville Station Restaurant. The historic train station has been brightly painted and restored/maintained. The staff indicated this was because of the historic nature of the premises. There was a huge and colorful bar at the entrance and several dining rooms. I, like other current customers, decided to sit out on what would have been the platform. This was closed in with clear plastic (and heated) so one could see the river and the tracks in case one of the occasional trains passed. I was served a nice strong, hot cup of coffee, perfect for the chilly afternoon. I chose the Hazelnut Mousse as the dessert/treat. It was creamy and tasty nicely decorated with blueberries, strawberries and whipped cream. I perused the main menu and decided that a return for a full meal was warranted. The service was friendly and prompt. As would be expected for a train station, there was adequate parking in the front. It is nice to see a historic place preserved as a functional establishment.

Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich had a nice spicy hot kick to it. Brisket Sloppy Joe was really good. The service was good, too. Nice view on the back porch of the train track & stream. The only thing I would complain about is that they only had 1 bathroom with only 1 toilet for all the customers to share.

Arrived early and put our name on the list to be seated. We were told it would be 40 minutes, but ended up being only 30. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. The menu wasn’t very extensive, but had a nice variety. All the food was very good. I felt the sandwiches were priced a couple dollars more than they merited. The main entrees seemed fairly pricey, but those prices might be misleading. For example, I thought the $45 Cowboy Steak was expensive until the steak arrived at the table and finding out it was about 24oz. Adding the size to the menu for some items would be helpful. The interior looked the same to me as under the previous owners.

Historic railroad Station restaurant overlooking active railroad tracks and river is a enjoyable setting. Great selection for lunch; loved the short rib sandwich, black bean burger, and mushroom bisque. Fast service and the manager greets everyone to make sure everything is going okay. Then take your receipt and go across the street to The Vine On Main for eclectic wine tasting and Fair Trade crafted items at a discount. 2020 update: Baldwin's Station closed and reopened under new owner, management, chef, decor, and menu as Sykesville Station.
