Unfortunately, I’m not sure what the hype is about here.. we came out, had people at one table in the place. Max capacity is stated to be 36 people, and i believe that’s equivalent to sardine life. One employee came up front after we walked in and had us sit down, gave us menus and disappeared for a bit. No drink order, no chips and salsa, nothing. Went through the menu a couple times, asked for chips and salsa and got our drink orders in about 15 minutes after the salsa came out. Chips and salsa was long gone by the time he came back to get our food order. We got a variety of stuff between the 5 of us. They forgot one of our orders altogether, so they shared one chicken fajita entree. They said the chicken was bland, and the vegetables were hard and not cooked enough. Couldn’t cut the vegetables with a fork without force. The steak burrito looked good, but the steak was tough and had no flavor. The beef tongue tacos? Thankfully, came 3 lime wedges and had onion on them as the meat had no seasoning at all and was mediocre at best. 3 tortillas laid flat on a plate with a scoop of meat on each one, and onion sprinkled on the meat. Not anything special at all. I definitely wouldn’t recommend them or order them again. The Burria tacos looked good, but the dipping sauce sucked, lacked flavor and the meat was tough. Best part to me was the slices of cucumber that came with the entrees and the chips in the beginning. I wanted to try their cheese dip but not for 10$ for a cup of cheese. The sodas tasted flat. Music was too loud for the size of the place. It was a major let down. service was slow, he might have been the only person working front and back. I’m not sure. But we won’t be coming back here.

I’ve passed this place a few times during work and I always wanted to try it. I’m so GLAD I did. I debated between the quesadilla or Birria tacos. I got the Birria tacos today and they were absolutely amazing! And the cosomme was so flavorful. Not too much cinnamon which was great. I loved them. Definitely will be stopping by again when I’m in the area! Amazing service too.

I had the best experience enjoying lunch for the first time at La Centerra. We ordered the chicken burrito and the chicken tacos~OUTSTANDING!!!!!! True Mexican fare in a wonderful atmosphere. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with all imported tables and chairs from Mexico. Our host and waiter was the absolute best. Great food and accompaniments. A TRUE GEM!! SOOOOOO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

Can't speak about the food but while standing waiting to order (no one ever came to the register), I saw raid bug spray. While I can understand an occasional bug, if it's that accessible (next to the register), I'm concerned

Really tasty and generous portions. Best Mexican food in Eldersburg that I have had yet.

It was authentic, real Mexican food. The meat on the mole de olla was tender, and the soup was delicious. The burrito my hubby ordered had fresh ingredients and it was full of flavors. They offer real fruit drinks made with fresh fruit as well as alcohol and some cocktails. I'm not a fan of the green and red sauces but if you enjoy those on your meal they make them fresh. The most delicious tres leches my hubby ever had is sold at this restaurant. Overall great food, but remember real authentic Mexican food is not for those looking to eat healthy lean options, but if you want to try good and fresh flavors you should try this place. They do cook with a generous amount of oil so be prepared.
Authentic and staff is always pleasant. Food is fresh and tasty. Muy Bueno!
I really wanted to like this place, but our experience was rough from start to finish. We started with the guacamole—which was literally still frozen. One bite and it was obvious it wasn’t fresh—ice-cold and flavorless. Ironically, the margaritas were the complete opposite: warm with zero ice.
For food, we ordered tamales that were drier than the Sahara. I had the taquitos, which weren’t terrible but completely bland. My boyfriend got the carne asada, which was tough and chewy—basically shoe leather.
To be fair, we did come right after Cinco de Mayo, so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed or coming off a busy stretch—but even then, the quality just wasn’t there. Frozen guac and warm margaritas? Yikes. Hopefully just a bad day, but we won’t be rushing back
Good food great service !
