At first glance, you may get excited by the separate vegetarian menu. Unfortunately, the Spanish rice and Mexican potatoes are cooked with butter. Our server said the kitchen is unable to modify them. And cheese features heavily in most entrees.
Chips, salsa, and fresh guacamole are vegan without modification. Recommend the vegetarian fajitas, veggie Yucatan, or burrito loco. Specify no rice, no cheese, no sour cream, no butter (their default sauteing fat), and add fried beans...
As a Mexican native, I attest that this restaurant is authentic.
We live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and every time we visit Washington D.C. (Twice every year), we come up the whole way to eat at Los Aztecas.
Not only the food, but the clean place and customer service are top notch.
If you stop at Los Aztecas, you will be well taken care, but I always ask for “Tino & Claudia,” they are the best.

CARNE ASADA QUESADILLA >>>>> so delicious. I get it every time. Their rice is so flavorful and I love their chips and queso fundito too. Service people are very kind. Great vibes.
