I've been to several incarnations of restaurants in this space and this one is just a click below the last inhabitants. The server was awesome, the food was OK (crab balls were amazing, but the shrimp salad was weirdly dry and tasteless.) The four televisions with horrible country music videos were a real distraction I could have lived without. Sykesville itself is a great little town - lots of terrific shops - and this restaurant is OK for a nosh pre- or post-shopping.

Thanks to Nikki D. and Everyone at Sykesville Station for great service and delicious food! The catfish was great and Guinness on tap made me feel like I was back in Ireland again!

Visited here on a Sunday for brunch. A bottomless mimosa/bloody Mary offering is always nice. I don't usually drink mimosas because cheap champagne gives me a headache, but these were good and didn't hurt my head!I had the burger with smashes potatoes and it was delicious.Me, my sister, and my cousin came here to celebrate our August birthdays. They gave all of us free desserts, which was awesome. I had the vanilla ice cream and it was good. My cousin got the chocolate cake and the slice is big! If you get it, get the ice cream to pair with it.The staff was super friendly and helpful. I initially reserved a table for 10 inside but the weather was so nice they accommodated us to sit outside. Service was just a little slow, but if you're not in a huge rush, it's not terrible.Kid-friendliness: Our party had 4 kids and it was great for them. They have them kid menus that was also activity paper and crayons.

Had a very nice dinner. Lovely historic place. Super service, very nice staff, good food at reasonable prices. Sat outside in the shade by the train tracks. Background music was in the background, as it should be, not too loud, thanks.Parking: There was ample free parking when we visited on a Sunday @ 5 PM.

Horrible experience. We got takeout for a birthday dinner. I came to pick it up and had to wait an extra 20 minutes because they had given our food to someone else (mistakes happen), but when i brought it home we found they had forgotten one entire meal. Again, mistakes happen, but it was starting to feel like a lot of mistakes. I had to come back to the restaurant to pick it up. The manager was apologetic and comped that meal, but when I returned home I found that all the other meals had issues. No dressing on either of the two salads; the burger had been cut in half for some reason but then served anyway, so the whole thing kept falling apart. The crab soup had no crab. Literally. None. The “soft pretzel braid” was stale cut-up pretzel bites. This food is expensive, which doesn’t matter if it’s good— but it’s not good. Stay away.

The catfish nuggets and the deviled eggs were delicious. The portions are large for the price. Our waitress was upbeat and very timely with food and drinks. The location was convenient to our campground. I recommend and would go back.

Don't come here if you want food to actually arrive at your table. We purposefully came EARLY on a Thursday (ordered at 5:20pm), knowing that they are always incredible slow getting food out and have generally awful service. But we wanted to bring our boys there to see the trains. Despite the restaurant being 3/4 empty, we didn't get ANY of our food for at least an hour. We only ordered a couple kids meals, a salad and a cup of soup! My god! Completely unacceptable. My two young boys (2 & 4) were exceptionally patient given the circumstances, but no kids should have to wait that long for a freakin' PB&J and fries. The waiter kept saying they had a large party at the other end of the restaurant. So? One large party and an otherwise empty restaurant. I had to ask the waiter at 50 minutes if he could please bring some of their fries out bc they were so hungry. He brought a tiny side plate with a few fries thrown on it. Are you kidding me? I worked in restaurants for years and I never leave negative reviews like this because I know the challenges they go through.... but I am so livid at the complete lack of customer service. Will not return.

If I could rate 0 stars I would. We went in for dinner and were told a 20 minute wait with several tables available and no other patrons waiting but just that a 10 top had just been seated. (Should’ve been the first red flag)We ordered dinner and only 2 meals came out after 45 minutes of waiting. When asking where the rest of our meal was after waiting for 20 minutes we were told our ticket was canceled because of a “mix up”.We left after an hour and a half of disappointment and went straight to EW Becks. This is now the second time this has happened.Don’t waste your time. Just go to Becks.Editing to add that an email was sent to owner to address issues with the evening. Concerning that staff did not make owner aware of this error prior to their response below.

First, I really wish I had a positive experience to share but…I had high expectations when I met and scheduled my son’s wedding rehearsal party at Sykesville Station. No discredit to the serving staff - they tried but were ill equipped to handle a small part of 27 & the restaurant was not busy (Thursday evening).I meet with the event planner months ahead of the dinner and we came up with a small specific menu for the event. Some issues we encountered included:#1 - appetizers were delayed for whatever reason#2 - each course that followed, it didn’t get better and further behind.#3 - again, a small specific menu was crafted from the restaurant’s menu months in advance and guess what? They ran out of one of the items on the menu#4 - same thing happened with the dessert#5 - they were not prepared with coffee, tea, utensils for each courseOn a plus / when we actually got the food, it was pretty good (although we were all pretty hungry at that time)They ended up writing off the the champagne toast and crediting the meals & desserts they ran out of but honestly I would have preferred paying full price and having it run as I expected. The owners really need to reevaluate who is managing the entire restaurant - very disappointed. The manager at the end was sincerely apologetic but honestly my son will only have one wedding rehearsal and they absolutely ruined it for my family. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone at this point which is a shame because the setting nice, next to the train track, old town feel bur darn everything else just went wrong.

The food was delicious. Our server Olivia was wonderful. She was very attentive. We never would have tried the Maryland deviled eggs without her recommendation. They were delicious. The salmon was delicious.

We were meeting far away friends halfway from our homes and this place met that criteria. We got an experience dining in an historic train station, treated to a procession of railroad equipment being moved to the next duty station and a delicious set of meals. We were a group of friends whose tastes and dietary preferences were disparate and found satisfaction for each of us. This place is now on our go back to list.

Awesome place to grab a bite after a hike. I had their Lobster Mac n Cheese. It was delicious! Very cheesy and came out with a very fresh small salad. I had a chocolate cake to go, it was tasty. The patio is very nice with view to the rail tracks. Great atmosphere, our server Kara was nice and provided great costumer service even tho she was training someone. Definitely recommend!

A great lunch and sat in the outdoor area, which is dog friendly and they allow dogs to be at the table (quietly and not disturbing other patrons). The menu is meat and seafood heavy with only a few vegetarian friendly items. We had one vegetarian in our group who was a bit disappointed there wasn't a vegetarian type burger. They did love the beet salad and Mac n cheese side. Drinks are good and cleverly named. We'll be returning to try some of the other items on their menu.Vegetarian options: Limited and the salads are good.Wheelchair accessibility: There is an ADA compliant ramp to allow wheelchair access.

I really wanted to like this place. I've lived in Sykesville before the station was even a restaurant, and my family was involved in its renovation in the 90's. However, my salad was completely un-rinsed - covered in dirt particles. At first I thought it was pepper - nope. We sat on the outside deck area near, but yards away, from the bar, and it was ear-drum-damaging loud because of the shouting at the TV going on there. I get it - bars can be lively, but this was next level. On a positive note, the appetizer I had was good. I would say they were just having a bad day, but rinsing a salad is pretty basic food prep.
