Let start with saying this location has been in Thurmont for as long as I can remember. They are always doing events for local schools and fund raisers. Thank you for that. Now for the last 5 or 6 years, every Saturday and or Sunday, I have gone to this location and ordered the exact samething. A sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with the egg and cheese on the side. Crazy but that is how you have to order a plain sausage biscuit (they charge you for the egg and cheese regardless.)Why dont they just offer a sausage biscuit like they use to is beyond me. Now they get the order correct 90% of the time, and when they don't I just take it back inside and they fix thier mistake. Today was one of the times they just couldn't get the simple order correct. The young man taking orders at the drive through never understood, " can I have a sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit, with the egg and cheese on the side." I had to explain 3 times what I was asking for, and he still didn't get it correct. I got home to find they didn't give any sausage on the biscuit. Returned to the restaurant, went inside, and the young lady in a black polo shirt asked if she could help me. I told her what I ordered and showed her what I was given, her words were, " ok what's the problem, that's what you asked for." I said you all forgot the sausage, she goes oh, well it was hard to understand what you wanted. Then instead of fixing the problem started to just hands me a piece of sausage. A lady behind the line says you need to put that in a cup before giving to me. Just wow, I took everything back home, made my child her sandwich, feed the egg and cheese to my pups. Now I'm thinking I just paid over 5 bucks for a sandwich I had to return to be corrected and then make myself.

We live in an area where Roy Roger’s closed all stores in the 1980’s. Finding the Thurmont Roy Rogers store was not only nostalgic, more so a delicious break from 2024’s fast food options. Service, cleanliness, food quality, fixin’s bar—all reflect attention to detail—not commonly discovered in today’s business environment! Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Trigger & Bullet would all be pleased. Well, we ordered our food (inside) and had to go back and order another because cashier missed one (it happens we weren't upset about that). Got the first tray of food, while waiting for the additional meal they tell us they're out of roast beef and offer a burger instead, which costs less and we weren't compensated for the difference. The food was OK, but the "fixins" bar was a total mess and every napkin dispenser in the place was empty. Maybe they were just having a bad day, but we were not impressed at all.

I grew up with Roy Rodgers roast beef sandwiches. I was a sad day when they were bought up by Hardee's/Carl's Jr. I hoped the Roy's roast beef would live on in the Hardee's world. Not to be. Well aparantly there was one franchisee that chose to keep the Roy's theme and menu. I've been able to see they have multiple locations. Awesome. The young and senior folks that seem to make up the team always seem to enjoy their work and have bubbly personalities. If I am in the area and I can even remotely justify stopping in, I do. Arby's and Hardee's/Carl's Jr. need to take a lesson about getting the "REAL" meat. To all of the Roy Rodgers employees, thank you. You each do your own part in keeping the system running. To the franchisee, God bless you and your family for keeping the Roy's way and products alive. I always look forward to my next visit.
