First time in this long time Towson sub shop and owner knows how to make a very good sub. I got the lamb gyro sub and it was excellent. Not ideal for eating it. Definitely a carry out joint.

I don’t know how this place is in business. The man working, which I assume is the owner, was completely rude. The prices are ridiculous. And to stand there and tell me you want the cash you could see in my wallet instead of the card i was handing you is absolutely pathetic. I’m sure the state would be interested in the tax money you’re trying to scam them out of. I’ll gladly go elsewhere.

This place has been my favorite sub place for years. They are AMAZING. I've tried some of the other popular sub places around the Baltimore area, but nothing compares to The Real Thing. I always get the same exact sandwich — just the meat and (provolone) cheese with the hot sauce. They make their own hot sauce, and it's incredible. Wish they'd sell bottles of it. Generous amount of food for the price. The owners are incredibly friendly and always funny. Cannot recommend this place enough!

First, I want to say that I am not one to write reviews. I have been going to the real thing for about 10 years by now- for a while I have sworn up and down that they are the best cheesesteaks in the Baltimore area, and been quick to recommend this place to anyone. However, the service that I experienced on 12/26 was completely appalling.
I called in an order for a cheesesteak with onions and bell peppers. The man who took my order asked to confirm that I wanted green peppers, to which I said “yes, I want bell peppers”. First red flag? $17 for the sub. Prices have gone out of control, yet portions have gotten smaller. 2nd red flag? States cash only, but can and has taken card payments as recently as a month ago… interestingly enough? Not only did he never hand me my receipt, but he ripped it up right in front of my face and threw it away. When I received my food and tried a bite, I noticed that I was given pickled peppers. I went inside and asked kindly for a remake, and I was immediately met with both workers yelling at me, saying that I do not know how to order. I told them I asked for BELL PEPPERS and was given PICKLED PEPPERS, and they told me that there are so many different peppers and that I need to be more specific…. Didn’t think I needed to be more specific than BELL peppers, but ok. I literally reached a point where I asked “do you need me to show you a picture of what a bell pepper looks like!?”, they said yes and swore up and down that’s what they gave me, then proceeded to pull out a jar of SWEET PICKLED PEPPERS that they put in my sub to show me what they used. After they continued to yell, I asked if I could just get a refund, they said they won’t do refunds and said that they will “make my cheesesteak plain because I am picky”, then proceeded to snatch my food that I was about to hand them out of my hand and said “you should be ashamed of yourself, you have wasted MY food and MY money”. At that point, I snapped back and they tried to kick me out and refused to give me my money or food, and threatened to call the cops. I told them I’d wait because I knew they were using it as an empty threat to get me to leave.
After waiting 30 minutes for my moneys worth, they stated that if I wanted the cops so bad then I need to call them myself. After I called the cops and they arrived, they told the worker (presumably the owner) that he needs to at least make my sub. At that point, he was singing a completely different tune. Telling me that he would gladly remake the sub stating that he treats his customers like family and that he will give me $5 as a bonus. After all that the food has completely declined and subs were mid.
I suspect that I am not the first or last one that he has targeted like this, and I fully believe that he wanted cash only and ripped up and refused to give my receipt because his intention was to steal my money. If you’re looking for good cheesesteak restaurants, don’t even waste your time here. Try Frank’s pizza and Cheesesteak & Co. instead.

I cant speak on the food because even though this place was recommended I called to ask if they accept credit cards & the man said YES!!! However, when I got there ge mentioned that it is a $2.00 extra charge to pay with the card. I didn't like that especially when the sandwiches are $15....$17 for a sandwich, no thanks.

After that there’s no bathroom or dine in options available. Still delicious take out. Oooo! And they make their own house buffalo sauce that is to die for🤤
