I'm originally from Maryland and this was my favorite vineyard. I now live abroad, in England, and still think about Layton's Chance. I used to get their wine club subscription and highly recommend it. I've been all around the world and this is still some of the best wine I've ever had!
The cutest, quaintest vineyard to enjoy great wine and a relaxing atmosphere. We came on Labor Day weekend and were greeted by friendly staff and a surprise bluegrass concert. Everything about this vineyard was fantastic from the walk past the grape vines to the drinks and local community getting together. We spent hours relaxing and taking our time through their wine tastings and yummy charcuterie board
My wife and I really enjoyed sampling their wines. The slushies are amazing.
I really enjoy this winery and would recommend a weekend trip for a flight of their reds. You can have a small meat & cheese board while enjoying the wine. They have special events throughout the year and you can join the club.
We visited this winery for a VIP self-guided tasting as part of a bachelorette weekend and really enjoyed the wine selection, cheese boards, and the rustic, charming setup. The property is beautiful, and the tasting experience itself was lovely — relaxed and well-organized.
Unfortunately, the hospitality outside the tasting room didn’t match. While a Preakness party was taking place on another part of the property, our small, close-knit bachelorette group quietly walked about a football field away to take a few group photos. We weren’t loud, wild, or disruptive — just a group of responsible women enjoying a special weekend together. Still, a woman from the party got the owner involved, who came over and asked us to leave the area. We politely complied, but were taken aback when the woman and the owner high-fived after the interaction — a gesture that felt disrespectful and exclusionary.
It’s unfortunate, because we genuinely enjoyed the wines and setting. But the way we were treated left a lasting negative impression.
Second visit and still an outstandig experiece 10 years later. Excellent customer service. Answers all your questions with patience. A nice variety of wines. The wine slushies were a tad sweeter than I remembered, but still a great warm/hot weather choice. The patio and tent seating were a bonus.
Unbelievable service!!! Even better wines!!! This place is AMAZING!!!
Relaxing atmosphere, great variety of wines, fun events & friendly staff! It's a beautiful property & the winery dogs are an added bonus! 😍
I was asked to shoot a bridal shower back in August. This was an awesome find. I had never been here before. What a lovely winery. The few ones I had were so wonderful. The staff was do much fun. I was additionally blessed to do the owners son's flowers. It was a perfect October day!! Please take an afternoon and visit this beautiful location.
I have been here twice and had a wonderful time each time.

My wife and I stopped here before heading back to Jersey. The staff was friendly and they had a great selection of wines. We took a your of the wine making process, which was very intestesting. The property is quaint and impeccably clean. A must stop if you're in the area.
Really nice staff and a wide array of wines for just about any tastes.
It was amazing I would go again i happen to of came on Adult Field Day And It Was Absolutely Amazing ???? I'm definitely trying too participate either In The Fall Or The Next Summer One.
Lovely, incredibly peaceful place to enjoy an adults afternoon out. There is a single outdoor playset for kids, but there's not much there for kids to truly do so I wouldn't suggest bringing the Littles. There also isn't much food options, just a few snacks for purchase (mostly local items) OR you can get a cheese or charcuterie board to nibble. We ordered a board, wine flights and then enjoy wine slushies afterwards. We loved everything we had! We sat on the patio mostly, but the flies are a huge nuisance. Being out in the country, flies are to be expected. I think it would be a great idea for Layton's to have a screened-in patio area or a few screened gazebos for outdoor lounging. Fans on the patio could help deter the flies. We also wished they played music on the patio, they may have turned on the speakers if we had asked but we did not. Nonetheless, we had a fabulous, relaxing, serene afternoon "away". We look forward to our next visit!!
Stopped here on our way home from spending the day in St. Michael’s, MD. Took a tour and enjoyed some wine tasting with some friends. It’s a young winery I believe they opened in 2010, owners were very nice and loved their dogs. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Definitely recommend to everyone who enjoys wine and wineries.
