Service was ok but the food was amazing. Was visiting from out of state and so glad to find this place. They also sell food in the front case, so we were able to buy queso frito to bring back home

I came here after reading in The Washington Post that it's one of the best bargain food spots in the DMV. Unfortunately, I must respectfully disagree. The portions are pretty big, but considering the price, it's definitely not the best bargain in the area.
Carne Asada de Res ($22) - Carne Asada, rice & beans, tostadas, and fried cheese. The beef was way overcooked--burnt and tough--which's a shame because it's otherwise flavorful. Overcooking the star of the dish like this just doesn't work. On the other hand, the rice and beans were amazing - easily the best I've ever had.
Overall, it's nothing special. While the rice & beans were spectacular, it's disappointing that they were also the best part of the dish. That said, the servers were absolutely lovely - extremely friendly and even offered us samples of the drinks.
