The Alna Store Reviews
We wanted to love this place, but the reality is we couldn't find much to like. The service was terrible. Even with a reservation, we were invited to stand around the gift shop for 20 or more minutes. Once seated, it took another 15 before we were offered water. They were out of 2 things we ordered and the meal left us wondering what we would eat once we got home. A disappointment all the way around on a special occasion.
Amazing and delicious food and a fabulous ambiance
The new Alna Store has had several reincarnations in the last 15 years. The latest version is funky and kind of upscale. the building was completely rebuilt and it looks very nice. The food is rather expensive for local budgets . Tourists might find it nice. The previous owners were nice people but they did not know what they were getting into when they bought the place. The new owners will probably find the same issues. It is not a store. itis a reduced hours restaurant. It is not a community center. I live nearby and have not been there lately. The scuttle butt from those who have is that they will not go back. Its too expensive for the local clientele. Its hours seem erratic to me . Maybe the business plan is not aimed at a local group. Who else ther is is a mystery to me. Seasonal Tourists? Foodies? Upscale hipsters? We will see how this plays out.

The Alna Store offers an exceptional dining experience, with warm and friendly staff, from the host to the server. The menu is inventive and great, with a super selection of dishes, including the fantastic lemon-glazed sourdough doughnut, chicken & cornbread, and fresh local oysters. The restaurant has a unique character, with a charming coffee & wine bar and a vegetable-forward approach. The patio is pet-friendly, making it a great spot to dine with friends and furry companions.
Highlights include the broiled Maine scallops, lamb skewers, and the unforgettable chocolate espresso ganache. The heirloom gazpacho and mid-summer green salad are vibrant and refreshing, while the lamb kofta and short ribs are rich and full of depth. The Thai larb and fries are also superb.
With a cozy vibe and a focus on local, sustainable ingredients, The Alna Store is a special place for food lovers seeking creativity and attention to detail. While expensive, the experience is worth it.
