Deb and Peter make you feel like one of the family.
Empty! So we had the place to ourselves!! We were all carded- even the ones with gray hair! lol!!!
Best hospitality- you can tell the owners take pride in making sure the atmosphere is safe and friendly and clean. We love this place more than any other bar- it’s like being home!! I wish the tavern nothing but the best!!
$7 for a PBR that smelled like sewer water. Place seems very mismanaged.
Pool tables have the wrong balls. The bartenders were charging me different prices. One had me paying $3.75 for seltzer and the other gave it to me free. Cash only bar was annoying.
A great place for singing dancing and karaoke

Slow service for not only my tab but my friend’s as well. A problem occurred and was taken care of very unprofessionally. When drinks were received, they were weak. Also, open some weekends and then not, not consistent whatsoever. Customer service was trash aside from the woman stamping our hands to let us in. This is my third time being there and I haven’t been pleased once due to terrible customer service. Disgusted with this “tavern”.
Fast service. Nice owners who tend the bar. Plenty of parking in the back of the pub. Good Prices. The oldest tavern in Bangor and maybe in the State of Maine. Three generations (same family) have run the Business.
Parking: Huge parking lot in back of the pub.

The Main Tavern is an iconic pub in downtown Bangor. I particularly like the chicken wings with a glass of white wine. The service is fast and the ambiance is terrific. There is plenty of parking in back of the pub so you do not have to search for a parking space. There is a parking lot entrance on Main Street right beside the lit Hopeful Sign. This pub is the oldest family run business in Bangor. The Main Tavern maybe the oldest continuously run pub in the State of Maine. The patrons and owners are some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is a "must do" stop on your way to Bar Harbor and to the coast. I am not much of a drinker but I like the people and the atmosphere. I definitely will be back soon. Thanks Debbie and Peter for always making us feel welcome. We appreciate you. Support downtown Bangor and family run businesses!

My twin brother and I decided to celebrate our 30th birthday here a couple days ago. We were pretty last minute and not super organized with a plan. We essentially showed up with a bunch of people- but weren’t expecting anything other than a some music and a place to all hangout. That being said- the staff here absolutely BLEW us away with what they took the time to whip up for us. They went so out of their way to make sure we were so well taken care of. I had so many comments and compliments about our chosen location. I truly couldn’t have asked for better service. We’ve been doing this bday celebration for a couple of years now in Bangor and have never been better accommodated for. Thank you so much for the best night ever!!!! It was a BLAST!!

My friends and I have gone to the Tavern for years, because we loved the owners and the karaoke. Debbie and Peter have always been kind to us and we have never had any issues...Until Friday. I haven't been to the Tavern in 3 years, due to a busy work schedule. I overheard Debbie ask the DJ what my name was, which surprise me, since she knows me and my group of friends. Five minutes later, i see Peter heading toward my table and he tells me "so we are a hole in the wall who serves cheap drinks huh? Well you can get out" I tried to figure out what he was referencing, and he said he read my review. THIS is the first review I have EVER written. I then spoke with Debbie, who would not listen to anything i was saying. I tried to reason with her and ask her to show me the review. I insisted that she had the wrong person. I literally prayed for her son while he was overseas. SHE HAD THE WRONG PERSON. But unfortunately, she would not have a conversation with me. I respectfully left, as I could see that they were not interested in showing me the review. I emailed the FB page and they still haven't responded, so now im writing a review, in hopes that they will see that they blamed the wrong person. Im a person of integrity and i pride myself on how i treat others. I will still have respect for Deb and Peter, and ill hold out hope that they recognize their mischaracterization, so we can put this behind us...Afterall, their building has the beautiful word HOPEFUL on it :) I will maintain my composure, integrity and kindness...and I pray they will do the same...when they recognize their mistake.
