Sometimes the unplanned really works out. We stumbled upon Mae’s on a Sunday morning, finding it not too crowded, so the wait wasn’t too long. The food was delicious and the service excellent. What more can you ask for?

Mae’s Café & Bakery was a great breakfast stop. The corned beef hash Benedict was excellent, and the special sweet potato bowl was something new and really well done. We grabbed homemade cookies and moon pies to go, all delicious. Would definitely come back.

Very few servers. We waited 45 minutes to be seated.
Server was very friendly but had too much to do.
Food was okay but my husband's eggs tasted like fish.

Food was great, they had good GF options. They were able to accommodate a large ish group quickly and service was friendly and attentive despite it being busy

Amazing breakfast! Delicious bakery! Wonderful service today from Michelle!

We are here on vacation from Texas and this is just exactly the sort of place we were looking for!

And reasonable prices!

What a sweet little spot! The service was especially accommodating, and the baked goods are incredible. The breakfast was good. I asked for over medium eggs and they were hard. The bacon and the potatoes were close to burnt, but it was all servable and good enough to eat. We sat outside, and it was really nice weather 🌡️!! We lucked out in late September with 75° for breakfast around 10:30am.

The baked goods are incredible and I highly recommend them, along with their delicious coffee.

Don't misunderstand this review. I like Mae's Cafe food. Quite a bit. And dining in at the cafe has always been a pleasure. This week I needed help with a small catering order (about $650 in total) for a celebration of life. I went to Mae's a week in advance to talk with someone about it. The catering person, Stephanie, was not there so one of the cooks?/chefs? say down to talk to me about my needs. That conversation went well, I thought, but I didn't get any pricing as he said he didn't know pricing but he told me that Stephanie would call me later that day or the next day with pricing. No call that day...or the next...or the next. I'm involved with lots of other stuff... When someone dies there is much to do. Not to mention grieving. On the 4th day, now only 4 days until I need this reception catered, I contacted her. She responded immediately but we basically had to review everything; she still didn't have pricing for me. She promised it that day or the next day. Nope. Nada. Not either day. Now we're 24 hours from a reception after a funeral service and I don't have confirmation that Mae's has committed to doing anything. I sent an email expressing my frustration and I got pricing back but with so much wrong or missing I was apoplectic. Keep in mind this was a VERY simple small order... But it was wrong. Another phone call with me taking apart; so much stress with my sister's funeral and a caterer that was making everything way too difficult. Finally it was straightened out, I went in to pay (as I didn't want any more issues). Everything was picked up and delivered perfectly and was delicious. But I won't use Mae's for catering ever again. Their food is good but go and eat it in the restaurant!

Corned beef hash eggs Benedict and home fries here were memorable - everything was cooked perfectly and very tasty. Service was great. Sat outside on a nice deck overlooking a town green. Highly recommend

Mae’s….. where the food is delectable and served with Love (my eggs were even heart shaped!). This iconic little cafe delivers every time. My gracious server (Paige) was as sweet as the amazing cinnamon rolls and brought ‘Service With A Smile’ just like the good ‘ol days, so rare in this modern world. Three thumbs up 👍 (even though I only have two…).

Mae’s Cafe - miss it, and you’re missing Bath, Maine.
