The staff is always wonderful! Dressings are all homemade! Food is always fresh and delicious! One of our favorites!
Great food and we appreciated the ability to get a reservation especially on a busy week. Will return for sure.
Return visit and the food was excellent. The service was less than great. Yes they had a huge party in the back, but our server was easily distracted - took 20 min to get drinks.
We went to the New Years Eve dinner which was a fixed menu. Everything was great and for a fixed menu, the variety was wonderful.
Skeptical after reading other reviews but gave it a try and the food was absolutely amazing. Fish your way, salmon with Mediterranean sauce was excellent and my wife had the “Dilly” salad and it was the best salad ever!! The tempura chicken tenders are a MUST! Great service and atmosphere to boot! Will return again without a doubt!

I first went to this place Tuesday night. The food and service were good, if bit pricey. I spent $164 with tip for 2 people, but we did have 3 cocktails. When we returned two days later all but two of the booths were occupied, and we were told we could have the one table or sit at one of several hi-tops, one of which seats at least a dozen people. I asked for one of the remaining booths and was told no, as they were 6 tops and if 2 parties of 6 happened to arrive there would be nowhere for the 2nd group to sit. It wasn't explained to me why the 2nd (hypothetical) group couldn't be seated at the same hi-top we were offered. For what it's worth, it's also my birthday, but that made no impression on the staff. So the message I got was that I was less important than people who weren't there (and might never come). I'm not the type to make a fuss, so I did what I always do in such situations; I took my money elsewhere. Ended up going to The Brick & Stone Tavern only 20 minutes away in Rumford, where the food and atmosphere were were at least as good, but with prices only half as much. Skip this place and go to Brick & Stone.
ETA: In the owners response, there is still no explanation for why the hypothetical party of 6 could not be seated at the same hi-top we were offered, which can accommodate 12 people. Apparently, the larger party is too good for a hi-top, but a couple is not. This is common in restaurants, where singles and couples receive a lower standard of service compared to larger parties. If the hi-top is good enough for me and my nephew then it's good enough for anyone else. I refuse to be second class, especially at those prices. I won't be back, but I dont think the owner cares

Everything was amazing especially the servers and bartenders. Best scallops and risotto I've ever had and the honey crisp martini was excellent. Will definitely be back for more.

The food and service were excellent. I originally planned to eat at Sunday River Brewery, but since it was closed, I searched for other restaurants in Bethel and came across this one. I’m glad I gave it a try. It’s a little off the beaten path, but definitely worth it.

Both my husband and I enjoyed our experience at Modern Barn. He was able to have the chef cook his fish exactly as he wanted it. My curry had loads of delicious shrimp and the sauce was very flavorful. but no quite enough veggies or sauce for my taste. The service was incredibly fast. We both appreciated the quiet atmoshphere.
Great food, wonderful staff.

This is a great bar, but the food isn't as good as the price suggests. I got a $50 beef tenderloin that was just ok. Not bad, not great. I kind of expect more for that price. The service and atmosphere were great, and it's right in bethel with lots of parking. But, again, the food wasn't as good as the prices suggest.

The food was great, but not worth $28.00 a plate. The drinks were outrageously expensive and they add the tip at the end of your meal not worth the money unless you are rich and don't care how much you pay for a lousy drink. If you order a drink off the menu be prepared to pay top dollars. I don't like to be force to pay a large tip for just taking an order. We won't be back, sorry.
