The prices are high and the portions are small. Will not be ordering from here in the future.

The best fish in new england I have found after living up here for 25 years 😀 it's crispy and has a good tartar sauce with a pickled bite to it 😋 the Fries are served like you'd find on the coast with light vinegar the way our sailors like! ⛔I'd recommend you check it out!

Found this place due to the fact I can't follow my GPS. So happy we found it. Some of the best Fish Chowder I have ever had. Fish and chips were amazing. Big portions. Very nice staff. Going to try and get back there before we leave Maine.

This place is everything we hoped for and more on a girls trip through New England! We ate our meal backward & started off with Salted Vanilla soft serve ice cream topped with caramelized bread crumbs- insanely delicious! 4 of us shared a full fish (made up of 3 petite fish [pictured] due to us showing up shortly before closing and them being sold out. We were informed of this up front.) The fish was light & so tasty. Their tartar sauce was unique with a fantastic dill flavor (huge fans!!!) Malted fries were very good & served with mayo. We mixed their amazing curry sauce with the mayo & devoured them.
I was a fan of the ginger brew- super strong ginger taste. And lastly we got the apple beignets. They were shockingly small, HOWEVER what they lacked in size was outweighed by their melt in your mouth taste of heaven. Absolutely delightful and the custard dip was wonderful.
Highly recommend.
Also, is the owner single? He was humorous and so kind and we’d like him to marry our sister.

Wow, what a find! Fresh and delicious. This place is the real deal. Unbeatable lobster poutine! Fantastic fish chowder. Possibly the best fish and chips I've ever had. Don't miss the Fish and Whistle!

They have the best fried fish, batter is perfect. This time we opted for the fried halibut special which was great but portion was small and the French fries were soft and mushy. Interesting wine and beer selection. Next time we will stick with the regular fish option and pass on the fries.

In the fall of 2024, while visiting Portland, Maine, we had two distinct culinary goals: to find the best fish and chips and to enjoy lobster in multiple meals. Happily, we accomplished both! The best fish and chips we found were at Fish & Whistle, discovered during a day trip south to Kennebunkport. Fish and chips is a go-to menu item for my wife and me, and having tried it at many places, we can confidently say this was the best we’ve ever had. Even a year later, we’re still raving about it! Unlike the common fish tenders served elsewhere, Fish & Whistle offered a large, perfectly fried piece of fish—crispy throughout without being oily, striking a delicate balance. They also had an impressive beer selection that day. If you’re in the Portland area, I highly recommend venturing south to enjoy these fish and chips, which are generously portioned—perfect for sharing, as we did.

Cute little restaurant! Fish sandwich is delicious (little too saucy/messy for my liking but still great). Would gladly return!

Accidentally found this place when in the area exploring the beach. Fabulous food
fish and chips, chowder, smoked fish melt sandwich (like a tuna melt), nice selection of cocktails, wine and beer. Not a giant menu, but they had everything we were looking for and was cooked to perfection! Service was excellent! Fun, casual vibe. I live 90 minutes away and would definitely go back again when I’m in the area.

My partner and I frequent this spot and can say confidently that Fish and Whistle NEVER disappoints. Even the experimental menu items, like tomato rose soft serve (!!), are done to perfection. Roasted oysters, fried fish, even the green goddess salad are some of our favorites. 100% worth it every time.
