I do eat here quite often. And I will say I've never had a bad experience here. The food is unbelievable in a must say the staff is great. They are very helpful and very respectful. I would advise anyone to try this restaurant if you have not tried it yet

Fantastic service and great food! Ate the Pate and cheese platter, delicious but forgot to get pictures.

Delicious, buttery comfort food. Lots of fun tchotchkes around the dining room. The dining room felt intimate and had a Germanic cottage-core atmosphere with a cozy lounge room hosting a velvety green couch to eat a mint and watch the snow fall after dinner.Food & drinks: Hearty, buttery, and delicious. The menu seems to change often to rotate new recipes.

While we enjoyed our evening being together, and the service was terrific, the snitzrl was over cooked to a crisp, the pizza flavor was fine but both pizzas were burned on one side, the potato dumplings were gummy, over salted , and inedible. No salads in the menu, except for that one, is a shame, as they would help to lighten up what is otherwise a menu selection of very heavy entrees. Local fish? It is shallop season! We do want you to succeed and am glad you are making a go of it in the winter.

We love the friendly service and cozy ambiance of Barn Castle. The food is delicious! Highly recommend the Schnitzel, Flammkuchen and mussels but everything on the menu is a home run. Excellent beer and wine list to boot! Great restaurant for a very enjoyable meal in a warm inviting and non pretentious atmosphere. Thank you Barn Castle!

It was a very quiet night. Service was great and the food is wonderful: unusual, beautifully prepared and presented. Don't understand why this place isn't busier--it should be. Appreciate the vegetarian options!

Restaurant was fantastic for a late fall Friday night dinner. Romantic, cozy, warm. The service was attentive and thoughtful. The chicken liver pate was really special, as was the apple tart dessert with fromage blanc ice cream, and the smoked squash soup with crab and creme fraiche. The chicken entree was delicious, too, as was the wine. The menu is a mix of small and larger plates, and our meal was pretty affordable, as we split two appetizers and an entree (for two). The cocktails were also both balanced and a bit unique while having a pretty predictable basic flavor profile. Mine featured a black walnut bitter from a Rockland micro distillery (Luce Spirits). Honestly, just go, it is lovely.

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in the Blue Hill area. Staying at Barncastle lovely. The room we stayed in was large, very clean and comfortable. The small pub was quaint and the cocktails delicious. Lizzie was very responsive to questions prior to our arrival. We had a small meal in the pub on Saturday night that was so yummy. It was made special by Lizzie and her staff with an aperitif to celebrate our silver anniversary. We would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.Rooms: Very clean, comfortable and well appointedFood & drinks: The cocktails are delicious

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Barncastle. We were able to attend the last concert night in the barn for the 2023 season. Definately recommend attending a concert if in season. Our room was well appointed, very clean and with streaming services on the TV. The bar had a quaint charm and we tried many of the mixed drinks which were exceptional. You have to check out the restaurant and wine list. Lizzie, Owen and all the staff were friendly and we had an excellent stay.

The food was spot on!! Everything delicious. The mussels were flavorful and the broth rich and perfect for dipping bread. The corn lobster soup was rich but not overpowering with chunks of lobster meat. The bone marrow dish was a mix of tasty and unique flavor that I can’t put my finger on but want again. The chicken was moist and the accompanying veggie matched well. Drinks great good beer selection. The chocolate torte with cherry and anise ice cream was rich with a mix of flavor that fit together well. Staff friendly and efficient. I give it a 4 because the canned music was way too loud at bar and even in dining room at our first visit.

The menu is made up of German food in a tapas style (a bunch of appetizers you're supposed to share). The food was good but if you're looking for a meal to just eat and leave this isn't it. More ventilation is desperately needed in the side dining room. The staff were polite, the table of elderly people sharing their bigoted comments about every nation in Europe next to us not so much.

Just reviewing the resturant and I have to say it was amazing! The food was incredible and a nice change from the standard fare of Bar Harbor. The staff was wonderful and so welcoming, will definitely be back on our next north east trip.

Interesting menu. Every item our party of 7 tried was raved about. Personally had the the cold corn chowder and schnitzel. Delicious. Service terrific and accommodating to many "orders on the side". Easily our best meal of vacation.

Greeted by a barking dog in the lobby. House needs some renovations. Very disappointed.

What a refreshing take on a Maine B&B! First of all, you can't MISS the building from the road--literally the combo of a barn and a castle, such cool architecture. I only went to try the restaurant, not the hotel itself, but what a perfect little escape. My partner and I loved the chef's take on Alsatian food--we've never been to France, but we were definitely transported to a new place! As residents of the area, it was so cool to see a different type of cuisine represented in Maine. Lizzie & Owen, the new owners, are too sweet for words--we cannot wait to go back!
