Friends who return to Maine on a twice-yearly basis swear that the Brunswick Diner serves the best breakfast in the area, and we should experience the food and the 1950s true diner atmosphere. We came, we experienced, and we are not in agreement. Yes, the restaurant is truly a mid-20th century iconic dining car complete with restored and working tabletop jukeboxes. A nice touch. The Marilyn Monroe poster behind the counter hints at the glamour of those times. And then there's the food. The Brunswick Diner offers a wide and various breakfast menu, priced at mid-Maine market rates for their meals. On the mid-week day of our visit, patronage at the counter was low while there was turnover in the booths, and meals arrived in a timely manner. Yet, the meals that arrived in a timely manner were just average, at best. The corned beef has in the Frank Sinatra was out of a can; other diner kitchens prepare their own from scratch. It was dry and overcooked while the poached eggs that were ordered soft arrived with the yolks well set. Similarly, the eggs that my wife ordered also were overcooked leaving us to wonder about whether the kitchen staff was having an "off day," or whether these problems were systemic. In summary: nostalgic dining-car experience with all the trappings of the mid-20th century; food preparation was only on the low side of average, as our meals were not cooked as ordered.
Classic diner experience. Tight, bustling, noisy and good energy. Large portions, wide menu offerings, including hooch for Bloody Mary's, etc.

Two road weary, sleep deprived, hungry and grouchy Albertan travellers were given a true Maine welcome by Cassidy at her quaint and eclectic Brunswick Diner. She was overflowing with warmth and hospitality, promptly bringing us two large piping mugs of hot coffee and shortly afterwards, comfirming what all the reviewers were saying - This place is fantastic. Not only was Cassidy friendly and so welcoming, but the menu looked so good we were hard pressed to pick! She got the Bye Bye Birdy (chicken and waffles) and I got the Big Bopper omelette. Both came quickly and were prepared perfectly. I rarely make a point of taking the time to thank the cook, but when a perfect omelette gets put in front of you, what can you say but Thank you! Cassidy and the Brusnswick Diner changed our mood and sent us off on our day of sight seeing with full bellies and (still sleepy) but happy smiles.
Our breakfast-waiting took over an hour!! Cold food (eggs and toast) arrived after 30 minutes of sitting, waiting at the table!! Too much for a simple breakfast food and a horrible coffee!

Nice roadside diner with Maine fare favorites. Fun menu. A bit of a wait on a Saturday morning (<15 minutes). Outside seating is comfortable but be aware- there are yellow jackets that love the table syrup.
I had the corned beef hash and it was good. My son had the lobster omelette- fresh ingredients, good amount of lobster and not over-charged. The cinnamon bread was nice as well. The breakfast potatoes were straight from the freezer to fryer and were more of a distraction than a filler. Too bad, as the food could have been 5 stars if they were good. Coffee was ok and hot tea option is Lipton. Jams and jellies are all corn syrup prepackaged and don’t forget to ask for butter for your toast.
Tipping is now a tax and not about service. They will ask you how much you want to tip. Is what it is.

Really would like to give this diner a great review as I do appreciate diners, especially with their homecooking style and (usually) warming and fun vibe. Food was very good, but the service was tacky and curt - we asked for opinions if some of the items on the menu were good and only got rolled eye responses - leading to order things we didn’t even want, since this was our first time, and we couldn’t even see our bill before paying only to find out there were needless charges. I’m sure this place may be a staple for some, but hard pass. Will not recommend.

Throwback joint...really fun...terrific service and the food was very good, except for the "food service" home fries.
We really enjoyed Beunswick Diner. They have an attention to details and add a personal touch. We watched as one of the owners helped a handicapped Senior customer with care.
