We love it here. The first thing is always a big ‘hello’. The drink menu is fun and changes to keep things interesting. Favorite appetizers include the crab cakes and tuna nachos. Entree regulars are the smash burger, the chicken pot pie and an out of this world French dip. We’ve even gotten the cookie skillet - a warm cookie and ice cream is almost as good as a hug. The kitchen is on point and waitstaff is quick with a smile. R&B is a great addition to Maine Street!

Blackened Haddock with Crab was excellent. Service was very good. Some better whiskey selections (Irish) would have been a perfect dinner and drinks evening.

We are from the Texas Hill Country, popping up to Maine after a visit with our daughter in Chicago. The Ram and the Bull was our first stop after landing in Portland, wanting to start our journey up the coast. It was a delightful meal at the bar, and I posted on Yelp. We wanted to stop again on our way back to PWM. This time we ate upstairs, and were taken care of by Liz and Jia. The service with these two was excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Our meals (ravioli for me, haddock for my husband) was delicious. Perfect portions. The carrot cake was light and tasty, not too sweet.

Refreshed and Original. I Ordered Takeout on a Busy Thursday Evening. I Landed on their Fried Chicken Sandwich with Seasoned Fries and had them Hold the Sriracha Aïoli. This Lead to a Bit of a Boring Sandwich with Simply Lettuce & Pickles Remaining yet Better Than Any Other Local Chicken Sandwich I’ve had. The Chicken was Juicy While Not Too Salty and the Buttered Brioche Bun Was Very Good. I’m not a Big French Fry Person and Their Seasoned Fries are Top Notch Excellent for Sure. The Hostess had My Food Ready Upon My Arrival and Greeted Me with a Smile. I’ve Read Several Reviews Regarding the “Loud Atmosphere” I Don’t have Any Complaints About it and Didn’t Find it Loud Although Very Busy. All Around a Solid Experience that Will have Me Returning Again in the Near Future. Thank You.

The staff was friendly and nice but that was really where the good experience ended. The wait was excessive to just get drinks to the table and then they were wrong. Items were missed in the food order. No silverware was on the table. Long wait times for everything and took long to connect with our server. Food was just ok and expensive for what it was. Pot pie had no creamy filling and was just dry ingredients under a pastry. Chicken had a fishy taste and was likely fried in the same oil as the haddock. Unfortunately we will not be back.

Zac and his wife were beyond excellent as proprietors and every dish was incredible. The crab cakes were all crab and not cake while the muscles and frites were to perfection (a nice balance of meaty muscles and crispy yet tender wedges in an amazing garlic broth). The seasonal dish (butternut ravioli with Sweet Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts) was balanced, firm and tasty while the blackened Haddock was served on a wonderful bed of a corn based wild rice with complementary crab cake (did we say we loved the crab - no cake).

The wine selection was on par for the setting and highly recommend the Argentinian selection. While the rest of downtown Brunswick was bland the Ram and Bull was at “the head of the heard” -

The wait staff was warm, friendly and recommended a local establishment (the Abby) that served good wines and had fun board games to end the evening.

Make the Ram and Bull a “must stop to eat” while visiting Bowden College or the Coastal Maine towns near Brunswick.
