My husband and I have eaten here quite a few times and has always been very good. The last couple times we couldn’t get our favorite dish and the food is very salty. I don’t usually post on sites but very disappointed. I hope the crew can get it together again.
PUTRID!! We got a Pu-Pu for 2 and all the fried food tasted greasy. Pork fried rice tasted burnt and the Lomein was poor at best. I know why they are selling the business. We will not be back. Gross
What a joke this place is I waited 15 minutes longer than they said it would be. They meesed up the order everyone did get something but one of them was wrong, they also gave us an extra plate we didn't order. We paid for and were charged for a large sweet and sour sauce they gave us 2 small one which the caps weren't put on and they leaked all over everything. My wife called to complain about the sweet and sour leaking and told them about the extra plate we received, the woman didn't care about the lousy packing job they did and wanted my wife to pay over the phone for the extra plate which we didn't order my wife said we didn't order it I'm not paying for it and she hung up on my wife. The food was very bland and the duck sauce we received was nothing more than apple sauce and it was gross on the rice. We will never order from this lousy place again.
I have tried alot of Chinese restaurants in my day and this place by far is not among the top choices. Waited for 2 hours which I would have no problem doing if the food was good.Everything I ordered was subpar at best. The thing that stuck out was the Spring roll was no bigger than a child size Twix and the Duck sauce tasted alot like applesauce mixed with a tiny amount of sweet and sour. Which it absolutely was applesauce. Wish I could say something good but I can't.
China Cookie in Waterboro is one of the best in the area. Food is always fresh, and taste is great! They are very busy and the recent food shortages seem to have impacted them, as well. They don't always have what they offer on the menu. (Then again, that could just be your typical Friday night.) Prices have also gone up significantly. I appreciate the quality of the food and they are always super nice. It's definitely a place to satisfy your Chinese Food cravings if you're in the area. Pick-up only.
China Cookie owners/employees overcharge their customers by $50+ and say nothing about it until it’s too late and they have your money. Writing on your menu board that customers should “please ask about price increases” but not verbally acknowledging any price increase at the point of sale is very much illegal.Don’t bother ordering the vegetable fried rice by the way, they’ll forget it every single time.
I find this restaurant will tell you 30 minutes after you call in an order. When I go in 30 minutes later, they ask for your phone number and say it will be a few more minutes. 15 more minutes to be exact. The only customer there and I can tell that they waited for me to arrive to start cooking the order. A simple order for one. This happened to me twice and I only ordered there twice. There won't be a third time.
I only got beef fried rice with no veggies for myselfBut the order was $97! I have no idea what the rest of the family ordered , but it was a heavy package!it was ? good.Ate for 2 days!
Food is good. Fresh and delicious. But the wait time is ridiculous. Called ahead and they tell me 45 minutes. Get there on time and still wait 30 minutes for food. Been there twice and both times its been long waits. I don't think I'll be back till they fix their ordering system.
I would recommend this dining experience based on the quality of the food and the polite service. That's why I give China Cookie a 4/5 officially. In my mind, however, China Cookie will remain a 3/5. I was disappointed after asking for a very, very, very hot spicy Sichuan beef entrée; I even promised not to complain if it's somehow impossibly too spicy. The Sichuan beef entrée was 1/5 spicy, barely surpassing sweet honey bbq sauce in its zest. I'm planning on giving this restaurant another try. If this supposedly 5/5 spicy meal can rise from a 1/5 to a 3/5 spicy rating (average Sichuan spice levels), my official score will be changed to a 5/5.

The food is what you'd expect of a Chinese restaurant. I will say, however, it's flavored well (not over sauced or seasoned) and the quality of the meats seems to be pretty good. The staff is very pleasant as well. Make sure to place your order around an hour in advance, though.
Im not one to complain but i decided to try china cookie because everybody is raving about it I ordered a pu pu platter for 2 and waited an hour and a half. The amount of food is the same as a c5 from asian taste which is a single person meal the food from china cookie was stale and bland as hell for double the price of a c5 from asian taste which i waited 5 minutes for. Long story short long lines mean nothing go to asian taste
We watched as these folks spent years getting this place up and running. Expect to wait when you order but also expect to be very pleased with the quality and quantity of your meal! They are new and growing and definitely need to hire more help but that will come. The food was by far the tastiest Chinese food I’ve found in York or Cumberland county. These folks are working so hard and are providing a great dinner option!
I tried to place a to go order but the line kept ringing busy. After several attempts, we did end up getting through. We were asked to wait 90 minutes before coming to pick up. That wasn't part of the plan, but I made good use of my time while we waited. I arrived 2 minutes early but still had to wait 45 minutes. While I waited I had no idea what the problem was, what was happening with my food or if they knew what I was waiting for.I was annoyed, but felt bad for the folks working as I could tell how overwhelmed they are. They we're kind people, just understaffed I assume. Sadly, I left thinking there was no way I could return. The food was actually great! Fresh, tasty, quality. So, yes, I will go back. I do think I'm going to wait a bit and hope they can work out the kinks. It would be nice to see them find success in the restaurant. They also don't have their menu posted online so I will upload one
Awesome food! Best teriyaki I’ve had and super good lo mein. There is a wait but I expected it going in so I wasn’t disappointed
