A few weeks ago we had packed up and were heading home from Acadia National Park. Wife decided she was hungry and so we were looking for a place to stop and eat on the way. She had her heart set on a donut shop but as usual one could not be found when you wanted one.
So we saw the sign to Martha's and though it was not a donut place it did serve breakfast and we're glad we stopped.
The place was packed - very busy.
The wait staff was doing the best they could and a sign was up they were shorthanded. That did not seem to slow service down to us.
We were seated and our orders taken. Before we knew it our food was on the table. And surprise, surprise, it was great. From the pancake bits I appropriated off my wife's plate to my omelet with ham. The biscuits and hash was great, the bacon cooked to perfection. They had a master back there in the kitchen who obviously knew their trade.
Our waitress was a lady who bustled around and worked several tables each time she came out the back. She was quick and had our orders on the front and was quick with payment on the back side.
Overall one of the best places for food we had stopped at in 4,000 miles of cross country driving. Ellsworth is lucky to have Martha's Diner based on our visit.

Great breakfast at this classic diner. Had the Crab Benedict and Corned Beef Hash. Service was fast and very friendly. I will be back and recommend to my friends and family.

We stayed at a hotel in Ellsworth and just happened to stumble upon this nearby diner. We are so glad we did! Food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in town, Make sure you bring cash they won't take cards, there is an ATM adjacent outside at the bank. Everyone's very friendly that works there. I'm always a bit spendy there, when I go I get a rather large breakfast so it's to be understood why it's more expensive for me. But going in there for a regular meal can put you in the $20 or less category and no problem. They're always ready to go and are extremely reliable on their hours.

We stopped in for breakfast today and it was amazing! Everything was homemade, even the bread. The ham is cooked in-house. Pure maple syrup for the delicious pancakes and waffles. The potatoes were some of the best I’ve had- hand cut and skillet fried. Service was a bit slow and seemingly short-handed, but wonderful food.

In a sea of average restaurants charging Tourist prices Martha's diner was a refreshing find. It can be quite busy but definitely worth it especially if you're on a budget.
