Staff was extremely friendly and place had nice decor. Rated 4 stars as the food didn't seem made in house (corned beef hash and biscuits tasted like they came out of a can), but the prices were cheap and the atmosphere was very nice

Bring cash because they don't do debit or credit cards.
The breakfast is amazing, good portions, reasonable prices and top notch service.
It is my favorite place to go when we make it off the island.

We have visited Martha's many times in the past and always enjoyed food and service. Yesterday's experience not so much. We ordered food that we knew was good for us in the past.....just didn't seem to stand up to past visits. The service was also not that great, our server didn't come to our table after serving us to inquire about our meal, even offer more drinks, or the even the toast that that my husband had ordered and didn't get. We put our plates to the side of the table to indicate we were through. She come over and dropped off payslip and asked if we would like a box for our leftovers and we politely told no thank you and the the food was not up to our standards and she just walked away. And no it was not busy there at that time.

A unique spot that feels comfortable and welcoming. Ordered eggs, home fries, and toast that were perfectly seasoned and cooked. Would love to go back.

A cozy spot to have a very good breakfast. There is plenty of parking. It is cash only. The blueberry pancakes were great and the blueberries were cooked into the pancakes. Really maple syrup. I have the southwest omelet which was okay. The homemade bread and hasbrowns were excellent. Hollandaise sauce was okay. The sausage patties were the highlight of the meal along with the bread. I would choose Martha's over the nearby Governors for breakfast.

A few weeks ago we had packed up and were heading home from Acadia National Park. Wife decided she was hungry and so we were looking for a place to stop and eat on the way. She had her heart set on a donut shop but as usual one could not be found when you wanted one.
So we saw the sign to Martha's and though it was not a donut place it did serve breakfast and we're glad we stopped.
The place was packed - very busy.
The wait staff was doing the best they could and a sign was up they were shorthanded. That did not seem to slow service down to us.
We were seated and our orders taken. Before we knew it our food was on the table. And surprise, surprise, it was great. From the pancake bits I appropriated off my wife's plate to my omelet with ham. The biscuits and hash was great, the bacon cooked to perfection. They had a master back there in the kitchen who obviously knew their trade.
Our waitress was a lady who bustled around and worked several tables each time she came out the back. She was quick and had our orders on the front and was quick with payment on the back side.
Overall one of the best places for food we had stopped at in 4,000 miles of cross country driving. Ellsworth is lucky to have Martha's Diner based on our visit.

We stayed at a hotel in Ellsworth and just happened to stumble upon this nearby diner. We are so glad we did! Food was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

Definitely my favorite breakfast spot in town, Make sure you bring cash they won't take cards, there is an ATM adjacent outside at the bank. Everyone's very friendly that works there. I'm always a bit spendy there, when I go I get a rather large breakfast so it's to be understood why it's more expensive for me. But going in there for a regular meal can put you in the $20 or less category and no problem. They're always ready to go and are extremely reliable on their hours.
