Wow! Great place.....you have to try the curry goat
Excellent food! We loved how juicy and flavourful all the chicken was—this spot definitely deserves its high rating. In addition, the service and eating environment were both welcoming even while close to closing!
The food was really good (jerk chicken, curry shrimp, fried plantains). VERY good actually. The rice and beans were almost so bland, tho, that we didn’t eat much of it. The sad part? It felt like we were intruding. No smiles, no one asking how things were. It wasn’t closing time but felt like it. I’m glad we tried it out but we won’t go back.
Amazing food and well worth our 1 hour drive! LOVED the oxtail and the jerk chicken. Great covered outdoor seating area with music and TV. Good Jamaican grocery section. We will be back to try it all! Prices are reasonable considering the great flavors and freshness.
We sat outside and had some of the best chicken I have ever eaten. We liked it so much we back the next day to pick up lunch. My only regret is that I did not buy more of the delicious sauce. Two bottles was not nearly enough.
Very good jerk chicken and pork and very friendly service. The food was flavorful and yet not spicy. We sat outside, which was nice, and we'll definitely be back
Absolutely the best Jamaican food I've had outside of Jamaica. The flavors are clean, authentic and delicious. Even the vegetables on the side and the rice & peas were excellent. Coconut curry chicken was spectacular. Spices were perfectly balanced, chicken was tender, plantains were crispy and delicious with not a bit of grease. The jerk chicken sandwich that my friend ordered was also beautiful and delicious. Every detail was on point. Gave them five stars because I could not give them more. Order up an icy-cold Red Stripe or enjoy one of the many choices of Jamaican soft drinks and sit outside at a table in the cool green grass under the lovely shade of the full awning. Do not miss this place. It truly is Irie - and an unexpected little gem in Ellsworth, Maine.
I drive almost 40 minutes to get this food. I'm addicted.
The cooked food was great and we were given a decent portion size. I also love the fact that the restaurant also sells Jamaican products that reminded me of home. A little expensive but considering where it's located it makes sense. Shane was very pleasant and gave us recommendations for attractions in the area. I wish him the best in his business.
The jerk chicken was smoky and juicy, and the pan seared haddock with the creamy coconut curry sauce was magnificent. If you’re looking for bigger portions and good quality food, this is the right spot for you!

We had lunch here, the gentleman was very nice. The place is small but they had outdoor seating in a tent. We had goat curry over rice, chicken curry over rice and Jerk-chicken-over-rice. Jerk chicken was good, chicken curry was average and goat curry was bad.
The rice was below average, veggies on the side was bad.
Nothing like the taste We had in Jamaica!

Even better now! The curried goat was excellent, but that jerk chicken!? and the plantains!?
7years ago…So glad I tried it! Coconut curry shrimp, fried plantains, carrot ginger blended drink; each excellent alone, made for a wonderful feast. Wish I would have stopped in this past winter. It would have cheered me right up

This place deserves all the stars!! My wife and I came in about 45 minutes from closing, they didn't mind us eating in even though there is only one table inside. The owner helped us decide what food and drink to order and was very nice! He checked on us non stop after we got our food. I ordered the sampler and added oxtail to it. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich with a side of veggies. We also had the fish fritters as an appetizer. The fried fish fritters reminded me of hushpuppies but WAY better. Both of our entrees were amazing!!! The owner even brought us a homeade hot sauce that he recommended. It was our first time eating Jamaican food and im so thankful it was here, we HIGHLY recommend Taste of Jamaica.
